Thanks! These aren't tart. They are bloody SOUR!!!!! Seriously sour. In fact, too late now, but tomorrow I'll run a pH test on them. That should be interesting! Right now, just enough time to finish a small glass of tequila, and then off to bed.

Almost certainly a Seville type, then. NOT for eating or juicing! But they make great marmalade. I admit, however, I'm a bit surprised to see them at this time of the year, but then you are going to draw from a different market basket than I would.

Peet's Major Dickason's. Hoping it gets me focused a bit, I'm having trouble getting serious this morning.

Four Season's Oolong. This is a tightly rolled, whole leaf, Oolong that produces a mild, pale green liquour. Probably a bit light for this early in the day, but refreshing.

So back from the doc... and testing is showing that my son, 8yr old, is allergic to Soy, Cow Milk, and Almonds.

So like wow... that eliminates like 75% of our diet! Not sure what we are going to do now... Lynchburg is a fairly small city, more of a large town (pop 60k), so we do not have Wholefoods, Wild Oats, or those kinds of stores at all. Walmart and Kroger is about it. So specialty (ie soy & dairy free cheese) foods are not easy to come by.

Oh yea.. coffee.

Well life on the farm is kinda laid back
Ain't much an old country boy like me cant hack
Its early to rise, early in the sack
Thank God I'm a country boy

Well a simple kinda life never did me no harm
A raisin me a family and workin on a farm
My days are all filled with an easy country charm
Thank God I'm a country boy

Well I got me a fine wife I got me a fiddle
When the suns comin' up I got cakes on the griddle
Life ain't nothin but a funny funny riddle
Thank God I'm a country boy

Good morning, everyone! Another rainy morning in the Kansai, but I need to go downtown so it's buses and trains today anyway. I'm all out of guitar polish and I feel like treating myself a new, more comfortable gig bag too, so it's not all drudge work. But first breakie... Cylon Uva tea, rice, miso soup, and tsukemono. Then some more tea...

Yikes. Does rice milk have to be kept cold or can you order that online? If it has to be kept refrigerated but has a long shelf life you can make a monthly trip some place to get it. I thought most of the major super markets carried Rice Milk though. You might have to check in the healthy foods section.

My experience tells me that the organic foods do a much better job of labeling what is in the food as well so you might find it easier to shop in that area of the store.

Did the Doctor give you a list of products or food that you can buy safely?

Doc gave us info on how to read labels and what to avoid. We have dealt with serious food issues before (talking near death kind of serious, almost lost him when he was 18months), so we do have experience, but that was when we lived in Nashville and had a lot more local resources to draw on.

Found Coconut Milk of all things at a local grocer and he seems to like that. So that is a start. But our Saturday trip we talk to McDonalds (Just Father and son) is over, gonna have to find a new tradition. Summer nights at the local ice cream hang out with him are over. Pizza and movie nights will have to change. Just a bunch of upheaval in our lives.

You dont realize how much your life centers around food till your forced too.

Thanks. If nothing else working towards his black belt (Nov 2012! Woot!) has taught him some of the dedication and perseverance needed to handle this.

Forgot to list oats too. But after milk and soy... oats is fairly trivial.

Oh.. and his doggie. His Doggie that we got the year before my son was born that has been with him every day of his life... he does not know a non-dog life, positive allergic reaction.

What brought this on? If he had the dog since birth, has been able to eat ice cream, and the like something had to have changed. Do you have to get rid of the dog or can he take allergy shots to allow him to keep his pet?

OJ and skim milk. I had my home made banana bread to go go with my cereal and blueberries. So yummy. I add dark chocolate chips and walnuts. Yummy.

Ceylon Dimbula tea and tiny little tea cakes. Ridiculous things they are, too! Give me a big slice of apple pie!

Well he has been sick at random times for random reasons that would could not figure out. Part of the problem is his reporting is not trustworthy since he figured out that his Mom will fall for the the "sick child needs pampering" method of getting out of doing stuff. So hard to tell if it is getting worse or he using it more.

Also he has tested negative for this stuff in the past but they had been warning us all long that since he had such serious issues in the past that new ones could develop around aged 5-6 ... so these appear to be new issues that possibly developed over the last 2-3 years.

For now we are going to try and keep our dog. He is old for a dog (12-15 years probably, we rescued him so no way to know for sure, but he a was at least 3 when we got him over 8 years ago) so the reality is he might not be around much longer anyways.

There are things in life that we have gotten experience in that I really would have rather not had... such as ambulance ride to ICU and staying there for Christmas... having a rusty metal stake suck in my left side just below the arm pit, and so on. This is another one for that list for sure!

Brewing up some Kona for me cup...
