Yes, it is possible to download and install other dictionaries.

I have installed more English ones and also French,Spanish,Latin,Czech<->Eng. I added about 15 dictionaries.

I hit the problem that dictionaries from Booxtor's link at 1st post in this thread do not work (or at least did not a week ago). Even if I downloaded the right compressed file (out of 4 or so), 1 file was missing inside the archive.

It is in a separate partition (at least Linux experienced users say that) mounted in filesystem as /media/flash.

If you use Tiny File Manager just press User button in upper right corner and you will get there.

Better way of calibrating. More points, better algorithm. Wacom digitizer should be able to be more accurate than M92 is when better calibration is performed.

greetings, tugler
Feel free to add items to the wishlist wiki (I'm starting to wonder whether I should make that sentence my signature *g* )

Some of the things are already there.
I especially agree with the multicolor/multigray feature - I'm missing that one as well... and looking at the code, I really get the impression that it should be easy to add (pdf-tools gets a - float - grayscale level information, and there are macros defined for multiple grayscale levels... it seems merely disabled by removing the icons from the menu). If I had to guess as to why, I'd say that pdf_tools is the problem - in my (still halfhearted - I'm lacking time ) attempts to convince it to translate things into different colors, I always end up with black (and I remember some users complaining that their white comments turn out black in merged documents)... so apparently their pdf_tools source is broken in some way...
...so if Onyx could _enable_ this feature - say in a beta firmware - the developer community could (and would) try to hack something with pdf_tools (hint hint to Booxtor )

But out of curiosity: Do you have calibration problems? It works (very near) perfect for me...

Cheers!

BTW Tiny File Manager allows changing sleep and shutdown times easily, so no need for using the scripts i found in wiki... Great.

Interesting... are you talking about the otfm linked in the wiki?
I cannot find such an option - where is it hidden?

Yes, the otfm. i used the link in the first post of this very thread. Current version is 0.4.1. The option is the last one under the "Trinkets" menu.

Oh - cool - the menu didn't exist in the 0.3.1 version yet, when I compiled sqlite3 and hacked the scripts - nice

Booxtor: are you aware of available sources to this otfm version?

Hi Mono.

If you're interested:
I hacked a set of scripts to reduce the chance of this happening.
I won't guarantee them to work in all cases, but they do the trick for me .

I've attached it to this post. (as usually: backup, be careful about your data, folks - I won't accept liability for lost data or non-booting devices, although I did my best to make things safe and don't see things that could happen which are not fixable )
(Note: They leave the choice not to modify boot scripts, if you feel uneasy about that)
Please read the entire README file before using the scripts.

They rely on a previously installed set of script_ui_primitives (you can find them in the software wiki or the developer thread).

The scripts umount the SDCard directory, if a nasty user simply removes the card without properly using the menu,
they check whether the card is writable when a card is inserted,
they check (by default) whether there's more than 10MB left every 5 minutes (modify variables to change this),
and issue warnings, if something's found amiss.

Cheers and enjoy!

Hi,
if you follow the link to otmf posted in the first post you can download the most current version and see the history and short release notes. I check it every week actually
I could ask the developer about sources, if you wish... But I think he reads this thread and possibly will open the sources on his own?

That is cute (sorry, but no other word seems to fit). Basically turn it into a digital picture frame when not in use.
Are there any concerns about screen burns with e-ink (e.g. like plasmas)?

Cheers!

I just checked the wishlist and i'm wondering, if i'm the only one who would like that the zoom-settings for PDFs are remembered for each orientation no matter what PDF?
Am i the only one who preferres certain settings for reading PDFs?

This would mean if the PDF is switched into landscape reading, the last used zoom and layout settings for a PDF in landscape mode are recalled (i.e. automatically set to fit to width + scroll pages).

When I study text on my M92 sometimes I stay on one page 15 minutes. Is there a way how to set a time on M92 to goto sleep and shutdown to longer than the 10/15 min as offered by the firmware? Could it be done that we can set any time ourselves rather then have to choose from a few options?

Thank you.

Hi CJY.

No - there's no need to worry about 'burns' with E-Ink.
Have a look at the Wiki on how the technology works (there's an explanation).

The 'burns' you're referring to are the result of uneven wear (or attrition? fatigue? Not sure what's the right term here, sorry ) of luminous substances.
Consider old CRTs: electrones are shot onto a screen covered in phosphor... the phosphor wears off over the years... if you have a lot of dynamics in the displayed image, the wear is even over the surface, and you'll likely won't notice it... if however, you display the same picture for a long time, you can see a difference in wear on the phosphor.

In E-Ink, you're merely shifting the position of particles... so...

Cheers!

First @Booxtor: thank you for continuously poking Onyx for kernel sources...

I think I've found a problem... can someone confirm?
- Start browser by opening onyx shortcut (Home->Web sites -> Onyx)
- wait until web site is loaded
- go to Menu->Tools-> Show bookmarks
- select, e.g., first bookmark
=> crash - need to reset the device.
(I'm running 1.7RC26/03/12)

On that note: it would make sense to direct western customers to the english onyx website rather than the chinese one

Good stuff, thanks for your explanation, much appreciated.
Now to choose a good pic!

I can+t confirm directly, insofar as when I let the page load, it usually crashes at some point (whether going to bookmarks or other). I think the substantive flash on that page is an infulence... possible on memory (but what do I know)...
