More features and better landscape support

1. Ability to turn off 'Confirm deletion popup'.
I usually read .pdfs on my Kobo Touch so I read and delete a lot of them. I don't want to be prompted everytime that I'm deleting a book.

2. Better landscape support for comic books .cbr
Whenever I read 'The Walking Dead' in landscape mode and change pages, the focus is always at the bottom of the next page (instead of the top of the next page).

1) I would rather have a confirmation before deleting.. However to alleviate your problem perhaps they should allow you to somehow select multiple ebooks and then delete at one time which would then only bring up 1 confirmation popup.

2) I can agree with that. Also add that if I'm paging back that the focus remain on the bottom of the page.

Exclamation Deleting books

Regarding deleting books, does anyone else have a problem with getting the menus for deletion up on books? I press the parallel lines on the right and usually it takes 3 or 4 goes to get the menu, usually it just opens the book & have to go through the whole sequence again. Is there a method pressing or swiping the lines that get the menu to delete first time? Thanks

I don't know if this is even possible with a firmware update, but I would love to be able to enlarge font or a section by using your thumb and forefinger and separating them like you can on an iPhone or iTouch.

I agree, and if pinch isn't possible maybe a swipe up to enlarge and a swipe down to minimize.

Something that would really make the Shortlist/Recommended bar at the bottom of the Home page more useful: I'd like to be able to drag and drop a book there from the "most recent 5" shown above, i.e., just like the Favorites bar works in iOS/WebOS/Android. I want to touch and hold until I get some visual indication that drag mode is activated, then drag it to the Favorites bar and drop it there. I would use this when I've just downloaded a couple of new books and there's one I particularly want to read soon.

My biggest request after improvements to touch etc would be the ability to read a book's metadata. It's ridiculous that you can't see comments and series numbers ... unless there IS a way and I'm missing it?? I have contemplated adding a date/number to my book covers in Photoshop so I can identify which books to read first from an author or in a series.

If you use Calibre you can add metadata as the first page in the book.

Yes, thanks - I've already done that. However, it's only a partial solution.

IMO it would be excellent if one could simply browse metadata (comments) for books on the device to help with selecting one's next read. There are so many times when I have had to go to my PC (Calibre) to see which books go where in a series, the order in which books by a prolific order were published, and so on. I think I will start editing these basics into the book covers with Photoshop!

I am joking, of course - I have edited the book titles.

Many people make use of calibre plugboards to update the books title on transfer to the eReader to include the series name / series index before the title.

You can also add the metadata as a page within the book on conversion.

The original Kobo originally had something like this, but it was removed in an update, I don't really remember what it did because I wasn't on that firmware for very long. 1.4 had it, 1.8 didn't (1.8 came right after 1.4 for some reason.)

Don't know if this has been mentioned already, but an optino to view the book library with more books per page. I've got about 500 ebooks on my PC, if I put them all on my kobo, then on the list view of 5 books per page, I would have 100 pages.

An option to shrink the font size of the menu, remove images, and purely have a text based library menu with well over a dozen books per page. Would make browsing so much nicer on the kobo, and stop me having to look on Calibre first for a book.

I agree. A text-based menu would work much better for me. The cover pics when they are available are often unrecognizable in their smaller forms. There are far too many generic covers out there. And unfortunately there are a few books out there that show up with a blank cover (often a mistake in the epub coding).

I also want to be able to see meta-data when browsing the Library.

Hi Peter

After painstakingly updating all my metadata to my taste - I have now almost completed a HUGE marathon on my library - I did a bulk epub->epub reconvert just to include a metadata jacket, then realized I could have done it more safely with the modify epub plugin. !@@!$#@%% However, no harm appears to have been done by reconverting.

Now, after manually altering all my series book titles, I hear about plugboards (thanks to you and others) so I will have to get my head around that - sounds ideal.

Thanks!
Robin
