Women could carry the $499 7" iPad in their purses. Frenchmen and other fashionistas could carry the 7" iPad in their man-purses. Other men could carry it in their inside jacket pockets. afv011, you need to move away from the simplistic droid world that worries about "bang for buck" and other overly narrowed economical and ergonomic viewpoints. We are talking "Apple." |

Yes Jobs said so and so. --but time has passed, and Jobs changed his mind occasionally as well. Yes a $499 or even a $450 7" iPad would have to have a pricing explanation. -- ("simply we don't expect the volume of the most wonderful and heavenly magical 9.7" iPad".) Yes, there might be competition with the 9.7" iPad or the iPod or the iPhone, but we will still make out profit if not more at $499 or even $450. The BIGGIE point for doing it is that those upstart despicable turf busting and patent violating DROID companies are stealing some of our thunder in the 7" market. -- Set the Fab Factories and the Foundries to work. We will show those upstarts who the King of the Range is! COMPETITION!. |

I don't see why Apple wouldn't come out with a 7" iPad. The two sizes appeal to different markets, and Apple can always get their premium price for the quality of the fit and finish.

Actually at this price the argument would have to be: we don't expect to get even a fraction of the sales numbers of the initial iPad. |

Can you point to a source that explicitly details that the Xerox tour included the right to use any ideas seen therein? All I can find is the option to buy stock, pre-IPO so it was worthless at the time, for a tour.

Even if they paid for it, they still didn't invent it. Apple simply capitalized on somebody else's work. (Which is what Apple has done virtually their entire corporate history.)

Can you point to an independent, unbiased and reliable source that says they didn't have the right to use them, that Xerox didn't let them, that Xerox benefitted in no way?

![]() Gosh and nobody else does that... when Gates promised IBM their OS he had to buy it in from its inventor... and the list goes on... and on... and on... It's common practice for every tech company (hardware or soft) to capitalise on somebody else's work... often because they have a better way to employ it... which just might give a better business product... so what? Get over it and find a real reason to kick Apple or whatever other company becomes the scapegoat of the day (or thread)... there's plenty of targets out there if you've nothing better to do... ![]() |
