So, basically, right now I should try to get the usb hack working by copying the folder on the userstore and if that fails, try to get a clean uninstallation of the jailbreak (or an installation, although I am pretty sure I have a half installed/broken one right now...).
Thank you for your help, I will come back with any results I get! |

Hi,

Apparently, the ~usbNetwork private command doesn't work with FW 3.x on a DXG. Use launchpad/kite.

Thanks for the reply NiLuJe. I havent been able to successfully use a key combination for toggle. Would you mind providing the default launchpad combination I have to type at the start screen?

@bloor: Nope, I've never used launchpad
![]() Check the launchpad thread and/or the FW-3.x-on-DXG thread, it's been discussed a few times there, AFAIR ![]() |

@bloor: Could you attach the usbnet/usbnet_install.log and check what the /test/bin/usbnetwork file/symlink points to? There's a possibility that the issue is quite silly, and it may be pretty simple to get the usbNetwork private command working as intended

@bloor: Don't worry, that's perfect
![]() Unfortunately, it doesn't explain why the usbNetwork command doesn't work on these setups ;/. (FWIW, I thought that the /test/bin/usbnetwork symlink might already exists prior the the install, but broken/pointing to something else, but that's not the case). |

Trying to uninstall the font hack on a 2.5 kindle and I've copied the corresponding uninstall file over, but the update is still grayed out. Any idea why that would happen? do I need to take the old bin files out? Is there some other trick to getting the uninstall to run?

@JaneFancher: A greyed out 'Update Your Kindle' link means you've put the wrong .bin file for your model (or it's in the wrong place). Check your S/N again.

So.. I've screwed something up.
![]() I have a Kindle 3, and I've had it jailbroken since I got it. It currently has the 3.1 jailbreak on it along with the screensavers hack. (I did check the software version, but promptly forgot it. ![]() Today I decided to install a new font and followed the instructions on: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kind...nd_3.x_Kindles Installation seemed to go fine and my kindle booted up with the home screen in the new font. However, when I tried to open a collection, I discovered that I've totally ****ed something up, because the device is stuck on the home screen. You can move the cursor up and down, but you can't actually open anything, including the settings page, which means I can't just run the uninstall.bin. (In hindsight, I think probably failing to update my jailbreak first is what's done it.) The kindle turns off and on, I can access everything over USB, but I can't do anything on the device. I've rebooted a couple of times to no avail. Do I have any options to fix this painlessly? I've heard warnings about resetting to factory default with a jailbreak so I haven't resorted to that option yet, but I'll resign myself to it if it'll fix my mess. Thank you in advance. ![]() |

Please disregard/delete the above post!
Utterly inexplicably, while sitting next to me on the table (unattended), the kindle's screen suddenly flashed "updating software.. please wait" and applied uninstall.bin on its own! No idea how or why that happened, but my kindle is now back to normal, so yay. ![]() Sorry for the spam! |
