My books give me a sense of pride, lol, and my memory card is pretty nice, though I plan on upgrading it soon. When I bought my nook the largest they had available was the 8gb so I thought it was the largest they accepted.

I delete them as I read them. Then I update my Calibre record.

Not exactly "thousands upon thousands". But a few hundreds, yes.

With the advent of the cloud I'm able to just go and download what I want and then delete from the device when I'm done. That's how it is for me anyway
I only delete what I think I won't ever re-read.

And yes, it is the idea of having all the books on the device so that I don't have to connect it to PC or turn on the wifi to get what strikes my moods. Because 3G doesn't work here, and wifi isn't everywhere.

I categorize by author name and delete anything I know I won't want to read again.

Delete most books when I 've finished reading them. Also occasionally clear books that I know I wont read.
