Change of heart at Apple?

Well my wife has never been happier since I got her a "fondleslab" for Christmas.
I know she would have been disappointed if it didn't have a picture of an apple on the back.
If they want it and like what they get, then it's win win for apple and the customer.
Most people that desire an iPhone don't care much for comparison shopping. They just want the iPhone. It's eye candy all the way and if there's an apple on it, it's the right candy.

Apple, Inc. (AAPL) has officially entered into settlement talks with Samsung Electronics Comp., Ltd. (KS:005930) the top Android phonemaker. The companies both claim hope for reaching an intellectual property cross-licensing pact, which would preserve their deep $8B USD business relationship, which mostly involves Apple paying Samsung to produce its iPhone and iPad CPUs at a semiconductor factory in Texas.

Has Apple moved towards settlements with any other company?

Lost way? 35 million in 3 months and ipad is outselling everything competiton. How lost? What competion has better number?

While the iPad is a nicely packaged bit of technology w/ a lively ecosystem which affords lots of options, the change of heart I'm hoping for is for Apple to let out some of the technology which it had:

- Inkwell --- everyone can write, why can't one use it on all Apple devices?
- Numbers.app is really being held back (to a simplistic 2-dimensional spreadsheet) by compatibility w/ Excel --- why not create a mode where it can function like Lotus Improv?
- Display PostScript --- it still appalls me that over two decades after NeXT (and Adobe) created this, it's possible to have a graphic on-screen which can't be printed.

Their lawyers may not be bigger than anybody else's but they certainly do have more of them.
Wouldn't be surprised to hear they have more lawyers on staff and retainer than security software coders *and* industrial design engineers combined.

I think HM just missed off the [/ironic sarcasm] tag - at least, that's how I read it - unless, of course, that's what you were doing too, in which case it's a for me, lol!

Apple hates competition. Unfortunately, when competition is limited it's consumers who end up losing. It's a shame too because Apple makes good products.

Hmmm... must have missed the lack of competition, thought that there were other computers, smartphones, tablets etc on sale... my mistake... or has this thread degenerated once more to another anti-Apple diatribe as usual... yup... guess it's not possible to discuss anything Apple without the usual insults etc taking over...

I wonder how many people even remember that Apple themselves stole the window GUI interface, which was actually developed at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center.
