I live in Belgium but have a .ru email address. The e-mail domain doesn't mean anything about location nowadays.

I've been an Amazon (UK) customer for almost nine years (since they used to be bookpages.co.uk) and never received an email about the US promotions. I wonder why they would throw around Kindle's name in vain? Maybe they are doing ground-work for an international launch in coming months or something? I was shocked to see the email in my in box. They never made a mistake like this before!!!

Oh yes, I get loads of e-mail from amazon.co.uk, but this is the first one I've ever had from amazon.com. I have bought stuff from amazon.com - eg a complete set of Shakespeare CDs which weren't available from the UK website - but they've never e-mailed me before. I'd guess that it was just a mistake.

I got the E-Mail to my Swiss E-Mail account and sent an inquiry to Amazon, asking them why I get an advertisement for an item im not allowed to order using my usual shipping address.
This is their answer :

"The supply of some of the items we offer is limited depending on the country you are located in, unfortunately we cannot always determine the country of origin of our customers based on their account information.

Again, I apologize that you have received this email incorrectly.

Thank you for shopping with Amazon.com."
