There are no fringe benefits if, like the OP, you don't live in the US.

I now know that I won't find the library very helpful, and totally without interest to such as us in the UK I didn't think to delve sufficiently before opening the old yapper ! As you point out, for us it's a cheap and efficient postage service - but, naturally, you need to purchase Amazon goods regularly enough to make it worthwhile. My aim is to get as much as possible for nothing from Amazon .... 'cept at Christmas, of course....... | |

I have US Amazon prime, and it has paid for itself even for international deliveries. Not too long ago I had a very bulky shipment. Amazon only had one shipping option and that was almost 500 bucks! So I just used the free shipping with prime to ship it to a freight forwarder and they got it to me for $80.-. And it still arrived in 5 days with TNT. And the Prime Instant Video is not too shabby, either. |

Same here. Worth noting that in the UK Prime membership covers up to (I think) 4 family members, even if they're not living at the same address; very handy if you have e.g. a child away at university.

I think you must be confusing it with something else. Prime has always been £49/year in the UK.
