That's how I pay for purchases on my US account. Picked up all 35 within 1/2 hour of receiving the email from Amazon.

Read quite a few back in the 70's in PB and they are all excellent. Highly recommended. I look forward to rereading them again, and might have to hunt down the one's not included on eBay...

I own Sadie When She Died and really enjoyed it. Think it was available as an ebook through Rosetta. Sounds like a good series to grab while they are a buck.

I've had the 'transaction failed' thing happen if I have bought 3 low priced things in a row - either Amazon or Comixology - but the latter has a 'cart' function.

So if Amazon had on the website 'add to cart' for digital items that would fix that problem most likely. Not for buying from an actual kindle - but buying 35 from that would really suck anyway.

Checked a few - all of them not available. The Empty Hours is a novella collection, I would have got that one. Not interested enough in taking a trip to my US address to do it for a police procedural though.

Didn't buy all 35, but did grab 10 of them to enjoy. Had no idea that King's Ransom was the inspiration for the amazing Kurasawa film High and Low.

A great deal ... but 35 books is far too much for me. I read about 50-60 books a year. I picked up three as teasers. If I really enjoy them (when I get to them), it'll be worth adding them selectively over the years at regular prices.

People who purchased all 35 books are different from average book buyers to start with, as demonstrated by the post above, it would take average readers years to get through that many books. So the really price sensitive book buyer is the one who reads 10+ books a month, not 10 books a year.

At $5 a book I wasn't going to purchase any of the newly released Ed McBain ebooks this year and the daily deal got me to spend $30. This sort of volume-sales-at-reduced-price effort only works for known authors who have a large backlist of books, but I'd say it's effective on the segment of buyers who are heavy readers.

If there continue to be regular sales like this by the ebook sellers, then the biggest impact might be on piracy. It's not worth bothering with casual piracy when you will have opportunities all year to buy good books for a buck.

AAAAAAHHHH!!!!!

I love Ed McBain; I have been waiting for this type of sale on his Kindle books, and wouldn't you know that it happened on the day that I was on a 14 hour road trip w/out internet access...

Oh, well. All I can do is echo HarryT's sentiments--Ed McBain is the king. You don't have to read these in order. I picked one up as a gag in a Goodwill because I thought the cover art was hilarious. It ended up being a wonderful read, and I grabbed any I could whenever I could. These are great!

Not sure if this is worthy of a separate thread, but first in the 87th precinct series, Cop Hater, is now available for pre-order for Kindle on Amazon US. Showing reduced price of $4.99 instead of $9.99 list.
