cone shell?
I have one of these that I collected in the Solomons. It took nearly an hour to pick up because I had to be sure it was not alive. The hermit crab inside frightened the hell out of me..

I kept going back to it. It was a couple metres down and I kept running out of snorkel breath. I think I turned it over with a loooooooooong stick a few time. About half an hour after I got it back on the boat, the hermit crab got cranky and ran and jumped off the deck! Very pretty shell.

![]() Add another to Pooh's list... but sadly, not to mine. A REAL KILLER!! #5 on the list The biggest killer of them all! #1 on list of animals that kill the most people Half a point... What kind of bear? Pooh... what can I say? The odds against you posting soooo many animals, and not getting a single one on the list are staggering! I think you should be given the win just for effort! But.... ![]() Killer, but not in the Top Ten Good thought, but no. However, your elephant is #7 on the list! Nasty critter! And quite poisonous. But it's not anywhere near the top ten. Remember, this is a list of animals that also kill the most humans, not only animals that have the strongest venom or the sharpest teeth Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 04-24-2012 at 03:17 AM. |

Since we have mosquito and not Plasmodium falciparum, I guess we're looking for animal-type animals, not just living creatures, which rules out most parasites.
To kill lots of people, the animal must be in contact with lots of people. How about: Water Buffalo Horses Cattle |

was thinking flea... a la bilbo. Do we still have plagues caused by fleas?
I reckon it is cattle number one that gets turned into burgers that fat people keep eating and then die of a heart attack.

It's painful coming late to these quizzes... The one's you know are usually gone. I am interested to hear that Hippo is not on there, as it is purportedly the animal that kills most people on this planet, or at least in Africa, or so I believed. I was also going to say Water Buffalo, but pdurrant has pipped me at the post.
How about: Stone Fish? Funnel Web Spider? Black Mamba? Green Mamba? |

Krait?
Great White Shark? (Though I think we have an exaggerated fear of them here.) Agree with orlok - I thought the Hippo was one of the top ones. |

Nope! Very close with one of them, but not close enough...
We'll give Bilbo slot #6 for his Crocodile but only half a point! What kind of Croc? Quote:
