Close the door, light the light, we're stayin' home tonight,Far away from the bustle and the bright city lights. Let them all fade away, just leave us alone, And we'll live in a world of our own. We'll build a world of our own, that no one else can share, All our sorrows we'll leave far behind us there. And I know you will find, there'll be peace of mind, When we live in a world of our own. ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSxwq...eature=related ) Best thing to come out of Australia before Sneaky got Internet access! Good morning, everyone! Friday ride day. Twining's English Breakfast tea and a bunch of Scottish Oatcakes with strawberry jam to get me started, then it's off to school for the final morning with my students. They are very excited, both of them taking their skill test this afternoon at the Prefectural motor vehicle center. We have hopes that they will pass by at least their 5th try. That would be satisfying for me as their teacher. It took me six tries. Both are more worried about not following the correct route than the riding skills involved so that's a good thing. They both have VERY complicated routes to follow, and different from each other. My route was bog-simple in comparison, and it still took me a half dozen walk-throughs to get it. We are NOT permitted to ride the route beforehand, and once you make a mistake you are not permitted to finish the course. One more mug of tea and off I go! Stitchawl |

Yes... and no. Relatively few people take the Municipal tests, with their average passing being 11 attempts. No one has EVER passed on the first attempt. On my first two attempts at the riding test, I failed before I even got out of the starting gate... And at that time I had 35 years of riding experience behind me, and been through the American Motorcycle Assoc. Safety Course, the California Big Bike Racing School, and the Swiss Alpine Racing/Safety Course.
The Devil is in the Details... I looked over my left shoulder then my right shoulder... Minus 3 points... (should have been right shoulder then left) I sat on the bike before putting up the kick stand... Immediate Fail... then used my left foot rather than my right foot to raise the kick stand... Immediate Fail. Most people attend Driving Schools (or Riding Schools, such as where I'm teaching part time these days) If you sign up for their full course, ($4,500-$6,000 for a two-week course, classroom and skills) you get to take the skills test right there at the school rather than at the Municipal motor vehicle department. Of course the schools are MUCH more lenient with their own students. Their reputation depends on it. Of course, every time you take the municipal test, you have to pay $35 for the test plus another $15 to use their test vehicles. You can only take one test a week. Take the test 10-15 times costs more than going to driving school. Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 04-19-2012 at 10:28 PM. |

Cruddy night, dogs couldn't settle, up half a dozen times. I think there must have been a bear in the neighbourhood. I'm tired and I feel like crap. I'd take the day off, but I can't today.
Going to go brew some Peet's Major Dickason's and hope for the best. |
