Bond normally comes out around Thanksgiving in the US. That is the end of November for folks not in the US. They are still filming the movie right now. I just saw an article that a stuntman was hurt during a chase scene.
Hopefully they price the Bond books better then they have been because they are way too high. |

Probably a dumb question but does that mean only Amazon can sell them? That would leave all those with ePub readers out in the cold? If so, that adds even more dastardlyness to the evils of drm and format wars.

I remember being shocked to learn ca. 1998 that all of the Bond 007 books were out of print in the US.

There's ways to convert Kindle files to ePubs. If you look hard enough, I'm sure you can find them.

Thanks - I do know how, but was thinking of many who wouldn't. At least now, kobo and kindle each carry *most* of the same books, but it will be worse for consumers, if the sellers start dividing up the market.

B&N and some other retailers are refusing to carry books published by Amazon. They might change their minds for the Bond stuff, but maybe not. |

So far, for other Amazon Publishing titles, the competitors have refused to carry the print books. The eBooks Amazon Publishing has signed up have tended to be Kindle exclusive but with all the anti-Amazon hatred out there they might be refused, even if they weren't Kindle-exclusive. It'll be interesting to see how Amazon plays it. |

Hope they have a big sale like they did with the 87th Precinct books.

Well, they *were* available (out of print) so whoever last had the rights chose not to renew. It goes without saying that the other publishers didn't value them as much as Amazon.
And, let's face it; these are old, dated titles. Not likely to show up on the NYT "bestsellers" list are they? They really don't fit with the BPH business model... |

They were being sold across the bookstores but the price was silly. I think it was over $10 a book. I love me good James Bond but for books that had been out that long the price was far to high.

So basically whats happening is those of us that do not pay for eBooks via Amazon are left out for the James Bond eBooks. Ten years is a bit too long to wait for them to maybe be available.
I hate to say this, but I will... this eBook exclusivity is a bad thing. It hinders a large group of people from being able to read what they want as they want. This is a series of eBooks I would have bought (prices being reasonable) that I won't be buying. |
