Your post reminded me about his Apocalypse Troll. I'll have to go back for a reread and see if it is just as fun as I remember. Thanks.

Apocalypse Troll is one of those books that I am going back to pick up from David Weber. When I get the novel read, I will start a thread in the reading recommendations section since I know there is at least one other reader who likes the book. However with the shear number of David Weber books that I need to go through its going to be a while until I can read all of hte series novels then I can pick up some of the stand alone novels. For now there is Crown of Slaves by whomelse but David Weber, and a book called Road of Bones by Mike Newton, which is starting out well I am thirty-two pages in and there is four Yakuza dead already and there promised to be a lot more action from where that came from.
Calling all action book junkies I like books with a lot of action in them that's why I often read Mack Bolan books. My current novel is called Road of Bones by Mike Newton and I am sixty pages in and there are four dead Yakuza and a few dead mercenaries, and there promises to be a lot more action where that came from. Interested? Here is a link to a web site sub-page about this particular book http://www.mackbolan.com/display.php3?num=1770 and to the entire Mack Bolan group of series books http://www.mackbolan.com. Well, the past hew days had some good news and bad news....lol. The good news is I had a lot of downtime on Monday and Tuesday and got 45% of the way through God Emperor of Dune. The bad news, I found a bunch of Dune related books written by Brian Herbert (Frank's son). My TBR list keeps growing. I think I can safely put all the Brian Herbert books down for the 2013 challenge

I read the dune series many years ago and I enjoyed the first book but did not like the remainder so much. I have been thinking of returning to read the books that Brian Herbert (aka Herbert II) has written. Is there a reading order for the brian herbert books?

Finished two interesting books this last week-end and I am picking up one more, Polseen War volume 2 - Gustfront. I have downloaded all of the books that Baen will let me have and I had a bit of trouble translating them from one of their original formats to a mobi format that I need for my Kindle. Had to go from MS Word format to PDF then to mobi format. I wonder if I was doing something wrong, correction I was most likely doing something wrong. I will open a second thread on the matter since this one is primarily for discussion of the reading challenge.

There's only 258 days left!
![]() I finished book number 27. The Organization of Information. Dry, but one of those books I figured I needed to read a few of the chapters out of, so I read the whole thing. |

I've finished #49 but the denser works are still eluding me. I've been working on Plato's Phaedo for weeks now. And JRR Tolkien's On Fairy Stories. I think these will hang around for a while...

Sigh. I was doing OK, and then Sharon Lee's two Maine Mysteries came out for Kindle, and all the Lawrence Block backlist books went on sale. As a direct result, my TBR got longer, and I am reading fewer "classics" on average, since I have so many other compelling books in my TBR now. The only good news in this is that they're all short books. And they were all reasonably priced.

Oooh, this one got me, too. I'm still doing fine with the number of books read, but oh the TBR! I'm thinking now that reading 50 in 2012 won't cut it...and I really need to join the e-book addicts support group!

Well, I have found ebooks to be much easier for me to read (since I am always on the go and alwaus working with electrical devices - Kindle, PC, androids- ipads etc)
My goal this year will be to write two books and still find time to read at least 5. I know the number is ridiculously low... But authors, you know how long it takes to write a book! |
