I haven't plastered cat pix lately - so here's some new ones taken today.

Stella has discovered the heating pad I keep on my recliner for my back...

They say Wood Spirits

He jumped in my path.

I've been inspired to write poetry after reading kennyc's new book. (Which is excellent, by the way.)

Is this not the most gorgeous black walnut shell you've ever seen? I actually thought it was a baby owl on the ground at first.

I love the expression on Stella's face in the first pic!! Pure contentment!

We are looking a 'Point Catalogs.'
I broke a credit card the other day. It split along the magnetic strip as I was trying to take it out of my wallet. As it happened, there was a kiosk set up in the mall I was in at the time trying to attract new customers to that card so I went over and asked how I could get a replacement. They had the form needed, and the computer access, so I gave all the required information and they took care of it for me, handing me a temporary card to use until the new one gets sent to my house. Then... they began telling me to be sure to come back to the kiosk to have the new 'points' awarded from the temporary card transferred to my permanent account.
"Points?" says I... "What are points?"
"Yes, you have over 3500 points on your account" she replied, "that you can redeem for various prizes," and handed me a prize book. Usually I don't pay attention to these sales motivation schemes but looking through the booklet, we have enough points for a night at a 4-star hotel, a dinner cruise on a paddle wheel cruise boat, a day at Universal Studios including buffet lunch, etc., etc. Some very nice prizes indeed. I seems we've been racking up points for the past three years (that we had this particular card) and never knew about it! Yippee!

Thinking about how to search MobileRead for help. My mother is in the habit of making books for very small children, which she gives away or sells cheaply at charity shops. often with a handmade toy associated with the story. I was wondering how they would translate into a book for something like an ipad. Does anyone have experience with this sort of stuff?

I have attached a .pdf sample if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Great book! I loved the character development, and the plot held me all the way to the end. Frankly, I'd like to see the movie they make from this... I'm imagining Adam Beach doing a bangup job playing Fred!

All kidding aside, I think Mom did a fantastic job, both with the poetry and photography, to say nothing of the creativity of mixing her wool work with a book for young children. She deserves a real round of applause, and I hope that there is someone here who can tell her how to turn these into the format that she wants. Kudos to Mom!!

I know I would just love your mother! That is so cute, and of course the knitted toys just make it that much better.

My 2 year old niece plays with a lot of "books" like this on her daddy's iphone, but they are distributed as apps, not books, and are often interactive. Maybe she could find someone to work with her to turn them into something like that.

Wondering how my family would react if I went on holiday during the week of my birthday. At the moment it's cheaper than the weeks before and after. I need to save up before booking but if by that time it's still cheaper I might go that week.
