How is Calibre downloading Magazines(epub) for free? (from fetch news)

Its not a problem, i am just very curious. Please don't mind if you find it a noob question.
Well! the title says all. how is it possible for calibre to download the complete magazines like Newsweek etc for which to get digitally, a subscription is necessary.
And how come it is only downloading in epub format?

Thanks.

Calibre does not get any news content that is not available for free on the web. Many of the Calibre recipes require you to provide a username/password so that you can get to subscription-only items.

The format of news depends on what you have selected as your preferred format - it is not restricted to being ePub.

thank u for clarifying that. although i am sure it had happened atleast a couple of times that the software itself fetched the whole magazine without asking the username/pass for paid subscription.

... unless the site relies on javascript to enforce a paywall (e.g., New York Times) in which case calibre will get everything regardless.

I don't know about how enforced java script thing works but i think the problem is resolved. Just look below to screen shot.

So it was sorta like trial thing or "demo" if you wanna call it. I wasn't paying much attention while downloading "all the magazines for free "

I got the idea when i got the pirated copy of ___ magazine from pirate site which had calibre written on it so i thought maybe the dude who uploaded got directly from calibre in simply fetch news way BUT he must have been a paid subscriber.
I have downloaded alot of magazines in past few days and only one was completely downloaded from a to z although all of them have downloaded with just the current week's cover and 2/3 pages more with hotlinks.

not my experience

I use calibre for couple of years with Kindle.
I subscribe to many mags/newspapers.
My experience that sometimes pay subscription can allow you to get complete "set", but on retry requires userid/pass. Pay subscriptions sometimes give you a "look" of complete by providing you with the content list, but not a complete story/article.
