7", and yes. Between the decent multi-touch zooming and scrolling response, and the auto-rotation to landscape, I find PDF viewing as acceptable as I can imagine on a 7" screen. Quite usable. Not as good as paper and probably not as good as a bigger screen, like an iPad.

It sold out the day it was first posted.
They do offer refurbs fairly often, but usually they cost a bit more than $139. |

As you've read on this thread, however, we appear to be on the cusp of a newer model. If that proves true (and recent press suggests it will), then we can expect to see more excellent pricing in on the KF in the near future.

Welcome, stranger. Since you appear to be new to this century, let me tell you about a little e-tailer called "Amazon.com" who has this really liberal return policy, and who prices their stuff low enough garner a lot of impulse purchases.
And considering they have sold something like a million Fires per week in the 5 months they've been out: No, it's not at all early for refurbs. ![]() |

"Welcome, stranger."
I bin here a while, akshly.. ![]() However.... and presumably this factor is all built in to costing etc... and they have a big operation recieving these "rejected" impulse buys and re-selling them ....... Do they do anything to them, beyond wiping drives, making sure they switch on and off, and getting a new box ? I suppose you could say it's either a subtle tactic, or the economics of the madhouse..... but obviously a Good Ploy if the aim is to increase market take-up and brand reinforcement - and difficult for competitors to match. Imagine if every manufactutailer adopted the same methods though. ![]() [ P.S. I think e-tailer's neat - even if it was a typo or not ! ] |

E-tailor's a standard neologism which people like to use for the same reason you enjoyed reading it.
One interesting thing about that last sale was that some purchasers questioned whether the KFs they received had been refurbished at all. There was even a theory voiced that Amazon had had a surplus and were getting ready for a newer model. That could be true, but I think it's more likely the original owners returned theirs after little to no use because of the "liberal" policy mentioned by ApK. "This doesn't look the same in person," thought the credit-card-afflicted consumer. "I liked the one in the picture better. I'm sending this back." It could also be because someone decided to try to root it and didn't quite succeed. (People who don't follow the install instructions for DD-WRT are a good source of refurbed Linksys routers.
![]() So I hope they at least check that they turn on and boot. |

Mine certainly looks and behaves as new. I wouldn't be able to tell it from a new one.

Refurbs are available at Amazon for $169. If someone is on the fence, you should get the refurb. $30 cheaper than new is a good deal.
