Never. I will admit to reading paper books from the library, but one of the reasons I switched to ebooks was my house is overrun with books. Unless it has a Cubs symbol on the cover, it is only getting into my house in digital format.

I'll probably never buy a paper novel again. I prefer to read on my Kindle.

I buy quite a lot of paper books. Travel guidebooks (much more convenient to use while looking around somewhere than a Kindle) and obscure academic books which aren't available as eBooks and probably never will be.

I read most of the books now on Kindle, but still buy paper books. I just did, actually... and I buy paper books when: - I love a book so much I simply have to own a physical form of it; or - It can't be found as ebook; or - Ebook version is too expensive; or - I walk into a bookstore. |

Not Ever. Since RA came into my life, there are days I am unable to hold a book. But I can always manage something with my Kindle. |

Too hard to get ebooks autographed. Too easy to buy used paperbacks by the bagful at $0.50-$1 (Newberry library bookfair for the win) I like my kindle, I like ebooks, I buy them but pbooks still have a place min my life. |

Since the question in the OP was reference novels, no, I will not be buying a paper novel. Photography books, books with maps or diagrams, technical books, sure. Novels, no.

In short yes. In my experience the feel of a real book in your hand is better than a tablet or eReader. Even more so when it comes to reference books. I have tried reading PHP eBooks but just doesn't work for me. I still read a lot on my tablet but there is always a place for a real book. |

I buy paper novels occasionally, but they are almost exclusively books that I couldn't find as ebooks. They are most often used books that will likely never be released as ebooks.

I suppose that it might make sense to by used, chop, scan & convert if the novel is out of print and unlikely to ever to be released as an ebook before it becomes public domain (i.e., never in my lifetime), but I'm coming to the conclusion that it's not worth my time to do this unless I'm desperate to read an out-of-print middle book of a series. I'll probably still wait for the price to drop to MMPB levels, but the 4-10 hours it takes me to create an ebook that is nearly as good as the print edition is not worth the few dollars one saves by creating an ebook from the print edition, even if the print edition is free.

I probably will, but ebooks are my first choice. Unfortunately, not every book I want to read is in ebook format.

I also sometimes buy favourite novels as p-books, so that I can lend them out to friends. I buy quite a few reference p-books as well, regardless of whether or not they are available as ebooks, even if I already have an ebook version. While reading PDFs on my iPad is remarkably comfortable, I still prefer the paper versions of books for non-linear reading (grammars, dictionaries, etc.)

I purchased the Amber Chronicles by Zelazny in paperback. I've wanted to read it. I would have preferred the ebook, but its not available.

No way I will read a paper book again. I still might buy one, scan it and read it then. |
