I vaguely remember a system where you could register a paper book online, then leave it on a bus, bench or somewhere, the idea being that the book would be read and passed around.
A sticker inside the book directs the finder to the website where they can say where they found and subsequently left it. I can't remember the name of this scheme. It sounds like a great alternative way of clearing out old paperbacks; charity shops seem to charge far too much for something which has been freely donated. ![]() |

Way back when I decided I no longer needed shelves of paperbacks, I started leaving them en masse at the bus stop. Later I found lots of them at my local thrift store lol! The world is a crazy place!!!

Perhaps leaving them "en masse" was a bad idea.
I've read comments on the BookCrossing site which suggest that books released into the wild, as opposed to controlled release - giving them to someone - are less likely to be "found" and subsequent journal entries made on BC's site. Although it's free to register the book, the stickers cost money; not a lot, but enough to make charity shops a better idea for the releaser. |
