			For the past few days since I installed the new version of Calibre I have received this  error when I try to add books to my Goodreads shelves.

Oh and when the error happens it keeps trying to connect to Goodreads and locks up Calibre to where I have to use Task Manager to end it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?  |

			@booklover81 - I noticed the same error last night. I have been waiting to see if it is something that Goodreads will "fix" or whether it needs some plugin changes. It seems the url to bring back the review info for a book no longer works which breaks adding a book to a shelf.  
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
	
	Their website was down for maintenance when I checked later on, I shall try to have a look today to see what is going on. If it isn't just some temporary problem on their website and instead some longer term change I shall have to release a new plugin version once I figure out how to fix what they have broken.  |

			I'm seeing the same error...and I've not updated calibre recently...been running 0.8.47 for awhile. 
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
			Nor do I have any problems with calibre locking up... Interestingly, when I click the "View linked book" after getting the error doing the "Add to shelf" it takes me to the book page where it does show on my read shelf though with today's date instead of the read date I have in calibre.. 			I must admit I didn't read all of booklover's post above - certainly lockups dont happen for me. I suspect it isn't actually a lockup and instead there is a dialog which isn't being shown on the screen (some people have issues with multiple monitors etc). 
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
	
	The actual adding to a shelf is working. What isn't working is the ability to set a date read and/or rating, because Goodreads have broken the ability to get the review information in order to update it. In my case however books I see on the shelf have the date read column as blank (not today's date) and no rating which is what I would expect as a result of the error.  |

	This sort of error means only one of two things - either it is a temporary problem with their website, or Goodreads have made a change to their API either accidentally or deliberately (the latter being unlikely). As you will see a few posts above (and the Count Pages plugin) they have been making some changes to their website in the last few days, and some things have been broken. Give it another day or two (they probably won't do anything about it until Monday) and try again then. If it is still giving the same error next week drop me a PM or note on this thread and I will take another look. You can always try contacting Goodreads support yourself with the top part of that error (the stuff before your "then" part).  |

	 .The problem is with the Goodreads servers as I mentioned above - regardless of location. The only question mark in my mind is how "temporary" the problem is. If you look back through this (ever growing) thread you will see this sort of thing has happened before, and usually within a few days it gets fixed. Obviously nothing has been changed in the plugin, so the "fault" lies entirely with Goodreads.  |

			I'm having the same problem too,and I'm here in the US. "Read" status is getting updated despite the error message, but not the date read column. Can't identify when exactly it started for me - some time between Thursday morning and today. 			@jesscat - if you had read the thread I directly linked to above you would see there has been some progress. The authorisation issue needs a change to the plugin which I have made.
