That is *exactly* what the BPHs would prefer to do; give you a coupon book with a bunch of $1 (or less) discounts (heh!) towards the purchase of one ebook per coupon from that specific publisher. The entire book would expire in 3-12 months and you wouldn't be able to stack them or gift them. What they should be *forced* to do is give you a credit good for anything at the ebookstore that ripped you off so you can use the money to get ebooks from indie publishers. Right. I was thinking of just the phone though, unsubsidised by the carrier.

very few buy with no contract Other phones at times start off higher on contrac but price shrinks faster like below - lowest cost in its model is 299. but can get it less if look around. iphone also to be had 99 and free but backwards generations http://www.verizonwireless.com/samsu...xy-nexus.shtml

Quite different from here then. I'm sure the majority buy their phone with a contract here too, spreading the cost over time, but lots of people buy just a phone. I always (always probably gives the wrong impression, seeing as I bought my previous phone 5 years ago...) buy just the phone, since I've no great interest in ending up paying much, much more than the actual cost of just the device. Just as a FYI, the iPhone 4 (non-S), 8GB, on its own, will set you back roughly $800 here. In comparison, my Xperia Arc came in at $400. Last edited by Belfaborac; 04-12-2012 at 07:32 PM. |

Locally in Australia, a telco such as Vodafone offers the Samsung S II free with a $29/m 2 year contract, but to get an 8Gb iPhone 4 on the same plan would cost an additional $12/m.

B&N's stock lost over 6% Thursday. Amazon is up 1.5% in line with the S&P 500.

Dragged down by the BPH moaning most likely. Trying to portray the settlement as a disaster is not going to help the stock of publishers or retailers. They'd better get to that seventh stage fast.
