My father called the roofers today and because they were in the neighbourhood they came by within an hour. When they replaced the broken tiles a couple of weeks ago they said that they only had to replace two tiles, my father thought they used the other broken ones in places where they only needed a partial tile (around the window and above the gutter). After looking the guy who came today found 6 broken tiles, two of which only were missing a little corner. Luckily my father had order several dozen extra tiles so the roofer replaced them immediately. He wasn't happy with his collegues who should have found and replaced all of the broken tiles.
Hopefully, after seven and a half months, it is now really fixed and I won't have to spend another night in my chair. |

Looking at photos. I spent today wandering the temples, shrines, and streets of Kyoto taking pictures. I even got a few keepers. But I stumbled upon a traditional Japanese wedding being held in a beautiful garden, and managed to get a photo of the bride stepping outside for a breath of air... Unfortunately I didn't have a long lens with me, and in this location I was not permitted to set up a tripod so the photo isn't as sharp as I'd like it to be, but it still works!

@Stitchawl:
What an amazing picture! Right now I'm alone @ the store, waiting for it to be 9pm, time to close up (34 minutes to go). It's quiet and I've done all the things that needed to be done, I've read for an hour and now I'm bored. I've also had a fight with the thermostat but I can't get it to budge from it's program so I'm cold. Going to make some hot chocolate to warm up now. |

Yes, it's Spring now. Unfortunately, Spring is the shortest season we get. By 3pm I had my jacket off and was sweating profusely. I really should have cleaned up my veranda, as all the tulips I planted are now open and showing their colors too. I bought a flat of 40 pre-planted bulbs of assorted colors, and squeezed them together to plant outside the kitchen door. The colors are wonderful but the veranda looks a mess!
The Cherry blossoms will only last another few days, although there are some late-blooming varieties that haven't opened up yet. But the streets are all turning pink with the fallen petals, and older Japanese folks are waxing poetic about the transitory nature of life... I wish it could be Spring forever! ![]() Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 04-12-2012 at 08:04 PM. |

So pretty. I remember when I was in China. We arrived to a barren dead tree place, and within a couple of days there were pretty blossoms everywhere. Please tidy up your patio and send pix of your lovely flowers whilst they last!

Hoping it will be busier today than last Saturday. The first half of the "consulting hour"* has been busy though the "patients" were quick today. Just in case I brought my Kindle with me.
*Because like many other lamp/electro technical store we don't do repairs anymore because we simply haven't got the time for it. Because we believe in repairing what can be repaired instead of throwing it away we have a consulting hour on Saturday between 10 and 11 am. People can come with their broken lamp, appliances that need a new wire, etc. Officially we don't do repairs but if it can be done quickly my father usually does so. |
