Be sure to tell us more about yourself. What are you reading on your Sony Reader? Where are you getting your books? Do you have any recommendations?

Ah, Elsi, you're a sweety. I'd clean-missed Xan21's post, and "Inclusivity" has always been one of my middle names. G'day, new guy!

What do you think of your Sony Reader? What kind of bookreader improvements/device are you looking for down the track? Who is your favourite author? What's your position on unutterable silliness? How does a gas barbecue work?

Answer all these questions -or answer ones we haven't asked; whatever floats your boat - and you'll be sure to get even more welcome response.

Oh, yeah...welcome!

Cheers,
Marc

I don't know about the new guy - but I'm sorta new - and a PHYSICIST - on some days of the week - I can answer one of the questions:

A gas BBQ works just like an electric one except it uses gas-ons instead of electr-ons.
A gas BBQ works just like a charcol one except it uses gas-ons instead of briquet-ons.

heh... actually, no grocery stores are open 24 hours in france, it's illegal. except maybe in the rest areas next to the highway, and even those i'm not sure.

but i was so surprised by this story, the other day i said to a friend, "so, imagine that Carrefour [big grocery chain] is open 24 hours a day. one day, it's 3 in the morning, you can't sleep, so you decide to do your shopping. do you get dressed first, or do you go in your pyjamas and slippers ?"

he stared at me like i was insane. (perhaps i should have explained the context *first*)

maybe it's an anglo-saxon thing.

i did learn though, thanks to this story, that he sleeps naked too ; so maybe *that* is a french thing. it would explain why we all get dressed before we go grocery shopping.

Well ... yes .... I generally sleep naked too. But, if I get an itch to go shopping in the middle of the night ... I'm just putting on my jammies and slippers. Unless it's really cold outside, then it's jammies, coat and boots.

It's one of those "when in Rome" sorts of things.

I like to sleep in a clean bed, so I bathe or shower and if it's cold, wear clean sleeping clothes. I would feel uneasy going back to bed in clothes that have gathered city filth. Worse, sit in my truck to go there. That thing if filthy.

So, it's come to this, has it? Here we all are, crowded together standing at the front door to MobileRead greeting all our curious newcomers. "Welcome to MobileRead! I sleep nekkid every night and usually just throw on my nightie and bunny slippers when I run next door to buy my ice cream at Benny and Lenny's around abouts 3 am! Hows about you?"

Okay, I may as well join in. "Welcome to MobileRead. I sleep nekkid, too, but my slippers are lavender and they have little puppy dogs on them. Be sure to check our ebook library and feel free to ask questions."

Not me! I don't put clothes on, and I get my icecream at Massimos (the police are so nice about it. They keep a cushion in the back of the divvy van for use on its metal bench seat, and they've even photocopied a whole lot of pre-filled forms so that I just have to sign one on the way in to the gaol cell).

Cheers,
Marc

A clean bed, hmmmm?? I gave up on a clean bed around the time I got my sixth cat. They just love sleeping on the bed, and getting under the covers, and tracking kitty litter in there. Most of the time, when I get into bed, well, it's sort of like slipping inbetween a sheet and a piece of sandpaper.

There are nights I'm so tired, it wouldn't matter if one of the cats had gotten sick on the bed. I figure it won't kill me to sleep in a puddle of vomit, I've gotten worse stuff on me. (Remind me to tell you about the time I opened a can of what was supposed to be a 72 hour stool sample ... only to have about 100 cockroaches come out and scamper all over me.)
