Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion

Just spotted this on the Kobo front page:

aapr06ca25w for 30% off what it says are select books from the list here.

I tried it on a random discountable book and it didn't work, but applied to one of the list books, so if there's anything you happen to want out of those, it's good until 11:59 PM EST on April 9th.

The Aussie code is different aapr06au30w but it also appears to be only for a specific list. I hope this is not the beginning of them restricting even further what the codes can be used on

Publishers say how much they don't like Amazon etc. but range books they have allowed Kobo to have is pathetic in comparison.

Kobo has done the select list kind of promotions in the past. I have always figured that they are trying to fine-tune the size of the income ding that can take at any given time.

interesting, this is the first time I have seen it like this in the uk

other emails have a list of books with it that you can get the discount with (with a disclaimer about which publishers it cant be used on), so you can go through the list or look in the store for non agency books

this latest email is only for the list linked to from it

Interesting, while the web page says 30% the email I got with the same code says 25%

It's probably actually supposed to be a 25% and typoed on the website, given the "25w" at the end of the codes. But one could perhaps give a try to a "30w" variant.

So only on a small list of books? Poorly worded (maybe deliberate) - it should say that at the start - 'on this list'.

I never get any discount codes - maybe because I can't use them on German books, but I rarely buy them anyway and have never bought one from Kobo.

They must hate me even more than you.

Edit: Just had to complain once - today was the first time I received a discount code (c1auto25).
