Strangely, although I had more networking and other credentials than most of the IT people in the companies I worked for, my advice was never heeded and the mess left from ITs involvement was somehow mine to fix. I was always left wondering if you needed a IBM tattoo in a sensitive area and a partial lobotomy to work in IT at those companies. |

If it's all one company, they can't pass the buck. (except in the PC world, where they always pass the buck to the user...) When it's just something in my private life, I can work around compatibility issues or get other software, it's usually not time critical. In business it usually is time-critical... Apple is emulating IBM in a way. They offer only the choices that best maximise their profit margins, but make them work well. Apple then insists that this is the only way to do things, and the users have a good experience, so the users beleive that Apple works in their best interest, and they didn't really need anything more. Worked for Big Blue in the mainframe world... Last edited by Greg Anos; 04-05-2012 at 07:41 AM. |

If you are buying a few million units? Below $1 for the item and the connections. Sure they would have to put a little more thought into the design, but that isn't rocket science. Even the phones are more than large enough to easily fit one in.

Thats what I suspected. I would've guessed a couple of $, 3 at most. So at least in Apple and Amazon's case, it very much is the walled garden approach. |

While it would probably be nice to have one there I can still easily use an SD card with either my iPad or kindle fire. Sooooo, yeah, no walled garden.

iOS devices are priced just the same, & in some cases less, than other comparable products. Fashion device is tired & old. I work from home, I use my iOS devices as they were meant. I don't stand out in the street & wave it around like a giddy school girl. When I'm out & about my iPhone is in my pocket. So where does this fashion device come from. You're just using an old cliche just to use it because you really don't know what you're talking about. Tell us how it is a fashion device. Please. I've seen hundreds of thounds of people out in public & have never seen anyone waving it out & flashing it in anyone's face. Sheesh. Same tired old BS from an apple hater. Plain & simple. You people are disgusting. Of course you don't see apple people saying the same thing here about other devices or OSes. You guys must really be upset that you chose sub-par hardware & software. Seriously, it's so amusing now. There can be no other explanation. |

I did say it eight times easily and the phrase is in 5/8:
Dual-dangling-dongles, dual-dangling-dongles, 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2. And now back to our regular programme. |

For this particular instance (SD cards), it IS an issue to me and (I assume) others. I want to have that function straight out of the box and not have to drop more money on an attachment to achieve it.

Wow; generalize much? Broad sweeping assumptions about other peoples' habits and possessions rarely make one's positions seem more rational.
