I was wrong, even with cheating. Vivian Leigh was also born in India, and "rumored" to have been gay.

An easy misunderstanding.

I don't have a question ready, and I'm heading out soon, so would someone else please pose one?

A quick sock puzzle, from a 1999 Puzzle Panel show.

Don Cappuccino has bought a Robo-chum to help him around the house. Some friends are coming around for drinks and he wants to put some socks on as he is conventional. To prove he is not too conventional he decides to wear one blue sock and one other sock that doesn't match. Next door he has 19 red socks, 20 white socks and 41 blue socks - all mixed up in a drawer. He is too lazy to fetch these himself so he sends Robo-chum, who only works in monochrome but knows what a sock is and can count. So assume Robo-chum cannot tell the difference between a red sock, a white sock and a blue sock.

How many socks must Robo-chum fetch in order for Don Cappuccino to be sure of having his odd pair of socks - one of which is blue?

Another maths question

I'll say that it has to be 42 (otherwise, they could all be blue, couldn't they?).

Arithmetic and a bit of logic. not really maths.

Yes, 42 is it. I was hoping someone would say 40, looking at the red & white ones, and neglecting to consider the very large number of blue ones.

Well, 40 was my first thought. But, learning from mistakes, I actually looked at the question again and got it right.

Right, if Paul's going to do maths (OK, arithmetic and logic), them I'm going to do sport.

The Masters golf tournament starts tomorrow. What were players allowed to do for the first time in the 1982 Masters tournament?

No - professional golfers still can't do that.

In fact, see this, the PGA even tried to bar use for a disabled golfer.

I was stationed at Ft. Gordon in Augusta, GA from 1985 to 1988. The Army base raffles off a bunch of tickets, and I won a ticket to see them practice. So, I got to watch Fuzzy Zoeller practice. Actually, I got to watch a bunch of them practice, but he is the only one I recognized.

I believe in 1982 they got to use their own caddies. Before 1982 they had to use the club's caddies -- who were all black.

When I was there the Golf Club hadn't had any black members, but they do now. They still have never had a female member.

I also got to watch a Klan rally while I lived there, and far more people showed up to protest and boo the handful of shmucks who were marching.

Correct Daithi. Take it away.

Your point about black members reminds me of a joke (sorry).

Lewis Hamilton goes to Augusta to see if he can get membership. The rather stuffy and, quite possibly, bigoted member he speaks to says, "Oh, I am sorry sir, we don't take your type here. I'm sure they will accomodate you at the public course though, it's a twenty minute drive away". "Don't you know who I am", ejaculates Hamilton, "I'm a Formula One superstar, I am one of the most recognised people on earth, I have won the Formula One drivers championship!"! "I am most sorry sir, " replies the member, "a fifteen minute drive, then".

I just started dating this new girl, and she likes to go on walks. Last night the two of us went for a walk, and walked side by side the whole time. We even held hands at times during our walk.

I never left her side, and we started and stopped our walk at the same time, yet she walked a mile further than I did. How did she do it?

She's a dog, has four legs, so walked twice as many steps as you?

(I confess to having dated some dogs in my time...)
