I am not sure where your books are placed (card or M92)? If on card, make sure the card is not write protected.

I use micro SDHC card in SD adapter. There is 'switch' to make a card write protect and in my case it is quite easy to alter its position while inserting in M92 (making the card write protect). It may cause many different problems and maybe also yours...

I just received my M92, black version, and I have a problem: Suddenly, when connected by USB to the PC, the M92 does not detect the connection and I can not access the contents of its memory.

After connection to PC a dialog appears on the screen of M92. You have to confirm that you want to use USB connection and not just charge the device.

@Kodomo, tuxor

You are not ignored . I am reading your posts very intently.

They have holidays in China now , so it takes a couple of days, before we get response to my (your) inquiries.
I'll keep up the pressure on them

He is the message.
But I do not get the message on the screen. : (

Cre that the problem is with the internal connector of the M92. Has too much slack, so I think that does not make good contact.
And at 4 or 5 times I've connected to the PC has stopped working.

I tried pushing a little downwards and the connector with the message, but must be imperfect and the connection fails.

regards

As a European and German, Mr. Booxtor, you've heard of something called Quality Control.
I count the problem is due to the absence of such control.

I know that the big factory in China's cheap production costs.
But who will ultimately suffer the inconvenience is the customer.

Morning I will contact your store for replacement of this unit defective wind factory.

Good evening and greetings. -

Problem solved.
I installed the firmware 1.6 and now if I have access to the internal memory.
Thinking quietly, I remembered that when you install this file manager:
Looking for the location of screen savers, but without making changes, the M92 was restarted.
After that was when the problem appeared.
It has now been fixed.
Then I will set you the RC 1.7 of 2/24/12. The more unstable the 12/03/26. Some things, such as optical pencil, which work much better.

However, the record that there is enough slack in the mini USB connection.
But not if it is worth Initiate an RMA for this question.
I hope that in the not me problems.

regards

To my opinion RC 1.7 12/03/26 is more stable than 2/24/12 (I do not see new bugs introduced and some things have been improved.)

If you want to change screen savers, it might be bettter (safer) to put them directly to appropiate folder in firmware zip file before installing firmware. Using Tiny File Manager you may evidently make things go wrong... Like in your USB problem case.

My M92 has mini USB connector and not micro one. It's construction is good and firm. Does your M92 really have micro USB, or did you write it by mistake?

And alas, I spoke too soon. There are still issues with the sound:

1. The levels are now linear again, though the starting point (1 bar) is too high by far. Even on the lowest setting, it's too loud to be enjoyable.

2. Start the device, prudently turn down the volume to the lowest level, start the music - and it shall play on the highest volume. (It damn near took my head off!)
Adjust the volume, and the level 'continues' from the right, corresponding level (e.g. if you adjust from 1 bar to 2 bars, the level will jump from highest level to 2).

If memory serves me, the volume was just fine in f/w 1.6, so it's a bit baffling why these issues appear now. Anyway, I hope this can be fixed soon, as I really want to have my music back when reading.

Cheers!

Sorry, indeed, is mini USB.
My connector now works, but has too much slack.
Try to manipulate the cable connection for better fit.
I do not want, unless there is a problem most importantly, return my unit and wait weeks for replacement.

I don't know if this is the right topic but I didn't want to open a new one just for this.
I'm using M92 mainly for technical PDF reading and most of the time I finde more "relaxing" for my eyes to switch to landscape mode.
When you switch to landscape I think one of the most common zoom setting is "Fit to width".
With this setup I think that at least a couple of improvements would greatly improve user experience:
- The joystick is used up/down to scroll verticalli the page and that's fine. It would be great if left/right could be used to change page, instead of having to go push the paging buttons wich in the landscape mode are on the other side of the device (not confortable really).
- When switching page, if you scrolled the page right to the bottom, you start at the new page at the same position instead of having the new page opening at the top.

Two little "fix" wich in my opinion would improve landscape mode user experience for reading pdf

music_streaming

Hi folks... another interesting tidbit of information: The music_player does support streaming - there's just no way to tell it the url (it does not support .m3u).

But a simple script does the trick (at least for me )... it reads the url from a textfile on SDCard (see README.txt).
Enjoy...

P.S.: The stop-Script can also help you if you inadvertedly went into standby with the music player running. It will just kill any running instance of the music_player. (context: going into standby while playing music in the background on FW1.7RC26/03/12 occasionaly makes the player inaccessible)

Update 04/04/12 16:07+01:00 [13] : I've added a script to make adding urls to the textfile more convenient. It looks out for entries in .m3u and .pls files in the downloads directory of the SDCard and adds them. This way, you may click on the playlist links with the browser, and add the urls without tedious copy-paste efforts.
Attached Files
File Type: zip music_streamer.zip (2.4 KB, 317 views)

It would help to say what firmware version you are running
In your profile I am reading 13" ereader. That certainly isn't an M92!

A small niggle with the latest firmware:
When existing the browser, the 'Do you want to stop WiFi device' comes up twice now.
EDIT: My bad, only now did I notice that the first dialog is 'Do you want to close the browser'; only the second one is for switching off the WiFi.

I tip my hat to you, that is brilliant work, thanks!
When the volume issues I have mentioned above are sorted, I can listen to my online faves. Beautiful!

On a different topic: Would you - or anyone - have any thoughts on some ad-blocking ability on the browser? (Getting a little too many 'meet a willing girl from your part of the world' on otherwise innocuous sites.)

All the best...

np - welcome (it really is just a _very_ simple script, eventually maybe someone may add proper .m3u support - that'd be the clean solution )

But as already mentioned, I currently lack the time for bigger projects.
After a quick search on ad-blocking though:
- browser is claimed to be webkit (-based?) in another thread.
- http://vogue-android.blogspot.de/200...itandroid.html claims an adblock integration for webkit (but patch does refer to android source... no clue how compatible)
- I don't see the browser source in the git repository - if there are more than trivial changes to it to make it run with them M92 gui_shell integration, this'd be work.
- privoxy ( http://www.privoxy.org/ ) may be a workaround in the meantime (it's an ad-filtering proxy you could install on a regular machine - or (possibly) compile for the M92)

I personally just disable the image autoloading (use it mostly for news paper reading, anyway ). Btw.: I'd really like to see a 'load images' icon in the upper toolbar for this configuration setting :P
You might want to add ad-blocking to the wishlist, though - maybe someone'll find the time to do it. At least the privoxy port sounds plausible to me.

Btw... To all who've got some experience with Linux and don't shun coding in general: By now, we've got a quite good documentation on how to set up the cross-compilation environment and on how to compile things for the M92 (check out the Wiki). If you run into problems, I'm sure the folks in the developer thread will be willing to help out.

Cheers.

I didn't try it myself, but someone has suggested solving this 'issue' by switching M92 to Continuous page mode. Then Next page moves you from end of current page to the beginning of the next one.
