I'm another who deletes after reading. I sometimes think I shouldn't rely on amazon to look after my back catalogue, but I'll worry about that later. Probably too late.

I only delete those books which I know I won't want to re-read.
I enjoy certain books so much that I will re-read certain parts or the whole book whenever I get the desire to do so.
I like having most of my library on my reader, the same way I like having my "Paper" books in my library.
I guess this fills some need in me, my books are available whenever I want!

I try and delete after reading and marking them as read in calibre. Not that I am totally against rereading, but until my TBR list is lower I prefer to read books I haven't read.

Is it the idea of having all your books in one place and not having to go back to PC to get them on?

With the advent of the cloud I'm able to just go and download what I want and then delete from the device when I'm done. That's how it is for me anyway
I keep them because of notes and higlights. I will often think that I've read something connected to something different and want to check it instantly. If the book in question isn't on the Reader I can't check it. Once read they go into a category/shelf called Finished Books.

"How often do you delete books from your reader? "

Never. Not all my readers have a wireless ability and I'm not always in a location where there is a wireless connection. And I do re-read books and I never know when I'll want to read that book again...

I use Calibre as my library. I tend to delete read books when I add new ones.

I used to have all/most of my unread books on my ereader but that involved being a bit more organised about collections so I could find what I want easily. Since my preferred reader these days is my Kobo and it doesn't have collections (yet) I tend to keep it down to a reasonable number (<100)

I do re-read in theory but in practice with a longish TBR I don't do so often. I usually pick my next book from a pool of 5-10 rather than my full TBR anyway.

I've never read a series on my ereader yet, but I can imagine when I do I'll keep previous read books around to refer back to.

I suppose the other thing is that I do 95% of my reading at home so if I want to read or re-read something on a whim my computer with Calibre is right there to load from.

I delete borrowed items (from library or nook/kindle lending) regularly, and things I think I'll never reread go into the archives on the distributer servers and/or (preferably "and") backed up on my hard drive.

If I become hard-up for space I'll delete books I don't plan on rereading soon, but that's never happened.

I'm an ebook hoarder, they are all on my Kindle. The only books I haven't put on my reader are a couple that didn't turn out very good after removing drm. One day I'll figure out how to fix them and they'll be on my reader too.

I reread books often (rereading The Dresden Files now), it keeps me from overspending every month

The only books on my Kindle are those that are un-read. Therefore, everytime I finish a book, I immediately delete the book. Since I keep ALL books (regardless of where purchased) in Calibre, once I delete the book, I indicate in Calibre book read, the date and I have the custom column change the book title to RED so I know the book has been completed.

Honestly, if I didn't have Calibre, I don't really know how I would manage my book reading, but Calibre makes the process pretty simple.

I tried a couple of different options with custom columns and the like, and eventually settled on having two libraries. So now all the books I've read get deleted and moved over to the Read Library.

Calibre really is terrific isn't it.

I delete the book off my reader as soon as I've reviewed it on Goodreads.com

Just keep my library in Calibre, backed up on thumbdrive, dvd, and the cloud

I delete books I never intend to read again from both my reader and Calibre.

If it's a book I am unlikely to reread, but want to keep for whatever reason, I delete it from my reader and move it to Calibre Vault library.

All of the books in my main Calibre library are on my reader. I love having the ability to choose whichever book strikes my fancy to read at the moment. I haven't noticed any increase loading time to my Sony since I more than doubled the number of books on it in the past year.
