Is everyone familiar with Ebook News Today, on Facebook? They offer several free ebooks for Kindle each day that normally you would have you pay for. I have downloaded several to the Kindle app on my Sony S Android tablet.

Well, not counting free ebooks (of which everyone has a more than lifetime supply), if I bought no more ebooks at all, I'd be through my TBR list sometime in 2014. So unless you know something I don't, I don't have a lifetime supply of non-free ebooks.

As I do want to keep buying some ebooks, I reckon I will make my TBR below 300 target by the end of 2012, and if I manage to carry on like that, I might get it below 60 by the end of 2015. So in 2016 I might have my TBR under control. We shall see!

See, being pregnant has led to a decrease in my attentionspan. Which has made it harder for me to get into and stay in a book, even a good one. This has decreased my desire to buy new books.

So my solution is for people to get pregnant.

It might be less expensive to just buy the books you want and not worry about paying for college in 18 years. Not to mention all the books you will be buying for the kid.

Well, there was the £1.02 Ben Bova omnibus I've just bought. But I count that as one ebook!

Well, I saved myself some $$, but didn't help my TBR. My local library just got the Harry Potter ebooks in, and I jumped on it before the wait list went nuts. They bought 6 copies of each, and NONE of them were checked out yet. (These are the UK versions.)

Unfortunately, they also got the audio books in, but those are the Jim Dale ones. Perfectly good, and I enjoyed them, but I was hoping for the Stephen Fry versions, which I can't easily buy.

At 99 cents per, I'd take a big chunk of money out of the bank and buy out almost the entire back catalogues of Tor (Macmillan), Del Rey (Random House), DAW (Penguin), Ace (or whatever Penguin's calling them these days), a few Aspect (Warner) things, and I might even spring for some HarperCollins sf/fantasy/mystery/historical stuff.

They'd make a lot of money from me. But only at that price point.

Backsliding this week. Sigh. First the Sharon Lee Maine Mysteries became available for Kindle. I could justify that, based on her being a favourite author. But then the Lawrence Block backlist books went on sale, and I ended up buying several. True, they were at a good price. But they are books I've read in the past, so hardly urgent new books.
