No can do, I use very dense buckwheat pillows, usually around five, to sleep. There's no way I would hear it through them. The ear bud works great the way I do it. I hook the mp3 to my PJ's with a safety pin, clip the wire to the neck hem and I'm set.
I also sleep with a CPAP and two fans running, so the external noise is too much.

Yes, I qualify as one of the abnormal members.

Ah ..... me too, but I put the pillow speaker inbetween the top two pillows. (I have trouble sleeping unless I am seriously propped up because of my lungs.) However, I only have the one fan running ... and I'm positive there isn't a CPAP running because I have no freaking idea what a CPAP is ....

And ... there's such as thing as a "normal" member here??

A CPAP is essentially a hair dryer that blows air into my lungs through an oxygen mask. It is for people with Sleep Apnea (those of use who SNORE loudly and stop breathing at night) The CPAP stands for Contant Positive Air Pressure. It keeps me breathing so I don't stop. Much better than surgery or medicine. Non-invasive.

Ah haaaa ..... I can't breathe, but sleep apnea is not the problem. My lungs just don't work so well anymore.

My body keeps on reminding me that I am seventy-one years of age, but my mind tells me that I am twenty-nine ......and gorgeous. Who am I to argue?
Still a "newby" who hasn't quite managed to master Kindle with e-books, but will keep on plugging away in Australia.
I think that this site is a great idea.

If your CPAP is similar to mine, you could attach the ear bud wire to the air tube and voila no more wire problem.

A tiny little burg (that likes to call itself a "city" .... ummm .... riiiight) called Horseshoe Bay. It's about an hour northwestish of Austin.

I just think of it as "Stepford, Texas."

I cannot tolerate background music. Probably has to do with the fact that I am a musician and to me the music just *demands* that I pay attention. But I can have nattering voices in the background -- TV or even talk radio -- and ignore it just fine.
