I loaded up some manuals and I'm impressed at how well they look. This should make those 3000+ page books easier to read and hold.

I really wish that Amazon would fire off a new DX model, possibly with a Mirasol display to make manuals that have colored diagrams in them more friendly.

I would like a cheaper DX, and that's it. As I live in Brazil, I'll keep only dreaming...

I held off getting on for a long time, but with more and more manuals coming on PDF

format I finally decided to buy one (actually my wife said go ahead and get one). Last night I was reading a manual and it was nice to be able to relax on the couch instead of trying to juggle a laptop or having to sit in front of the computer. |

The DX is great. I am now using the KT because of portability but I still miss the size of my DX when I'm reading.

KDXG sucks...while some PDF are ok others take about 30-60 seconds for a single page turn. It's missing many features from other models.

KDXG firmware is from last century and Amazon isn't going to update it like for the latest Kindle models. It's sold as premium models but treated as junk by Amazon. They don't care. KDXG needs a better, faster CPU and the latest FW available for Kindle models with all the latest features. Still Amazon don't care. Kindle Fire is the new KDXG. |

I also have a KDX for reading newspaper formats outside in the sun.

But the KDX is so bad treated by amazon i would never buy it again. Worst thing is they still exclude the DX models from the personal documents cloud service. What a mean no go. They even updates their android and iOS apps to be able to use the cloud. Thats just another sign they want to get rid off the DX costumers by the time. Very sad cause for PDF or newspaper the KDX is still my favorite reader and i prefer him much more then my K3 for that formats. But i doubt that they will update the DX in the future, it seems discontinued. |

I have stayed clear of the DX simply becuase of the price for it. Would have no qualms about buying one if they would part with one for a lot less then what they are asking for it now.

The DX periodically shows up on woot - refurbished but guaranteed - or in the Amazon warehouse deals section.

The the price is a bit stiff, but for me it is worth it in the long run. I have a lot of manuals for software that is only in PFD format and while I did pay to have some of them printed it gets expensive. So in the end (at least for me) the price is not as bad as printing them out |

Can anyone say why you'd buy a DX and not an iPad? For $20 more you can get an iPad 2, and where you can highlight, make notations etc on PDF files with your finger or stylus, while on the DX, there's no touch screen, so you're using a knob to navigate around? Is the screen bigger on a DX?

For one, I was able to get a new DX for around $170 at Staples.

Two, for eReading, there is no comparison, e-ink wins out. Three, the large screen combined with e-ink screen is a dream, I read with the DX more then my Kindle Touch. Free 3G! I wish it supported Wi-Fi for a more transparent whisper sync with my other Kindle Devices. And I also wish Amazon wouldn't have abandoned it firmware wise. But it is worth every penny I paid for it. I take it with me to work every day along with my iPad 3. |
