I would love to have a Galaxy Note, with Stylus, but as monkeyluis somewhat indicates they are simply out of reach. The Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0 is cheaper than the Note, but is still fairly expensive and the screen resolution (800x480) and type aren't so great for the price. That is why I got a secondhand Archos 43 (480 x 854). Well pleased with it so far.

http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-c...-20627295.html It hit all the right beats from a desktop docking station to a detachable keyboard to a folio-style locking carry case. The Crusoe CPU in the TC1000 was underpowered but adequate in a NetBook kinda way, and the overall design and functionality hasn't been replicated anywhere since. (The closest being Dell's attempt to revive the old CLIO HPC Pro design: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/columni...aig06_ST_N.htm) They literally don't build them as they used to. I do have some hope that somebody (HP?) will stuff ultrabook tech and an iPad-ish monster battery into a reincarnated TC1000. (Wouldn't even mind if they keep the thickness; the weight was manageable.) I really think the consumer tablet space is finally ready for broad adoption of TabletPC tech, even if the idea is ten years old. Last edited by fjtorres; 03-25-2012 at 07:43 AM.

My guess is that we will see a slightly bigger iPhone and iPod touch this fall IF Apple can maintain the Retina display and battery life- Apple is not going to go backwards on either of these attributes. There will be no " tweener" tablet- tthere is no place for it in their pricing structure. Heck , by years end, you'll be able to get a refurbished iPad 2 for under 300. For what it can do that's a great value and should satisfy any tightwad. If the choice is between a KF for 200 and A refurb iPad 2 for 299 only somebody who is truly pound foolish is going to go for the KF or even the GalaxyPlayer or Galaxy Note or whatever. I think Apple's next move going to be aimed at the big screen in our living room. Whether its a super Apple TV or an iTV is the issue. |

It has to be distinctive, definitive, awe inspiring, jaw dropping and able to wrench large amounts of money from the Apple Consumer who is probably already kind of stretched.

Very often, what appears to be loyalty is actually resigned acquiescence due to compatibility.

Constantly. And of course what makes it more ridiculous is that you don't even understand what products Apple offers and how much they cost relative to other products by other makers. And of course it's just a fantasy that you can generalize about 200 million consumers in scores of countries anyway.

I think Apple wants to do something big in the TV space. It is however constrained by the media companies who are reluctant to give Apple the keys to the kingdom the way the music companies did with iTunes. I think Apple will move forward with an upgrade of its Apple TV set-top box. The problem here is that there are other set-top boxes which do a better job of bringing movie and TV content to the TV for less money than Apple TV, unless you have all your movie and TV content in iTunes . Apple TV's ace in the hole is the App Store. It can bring 500,000 apps to the TV screen, including thousands of games. This might be a functionality that people want instead of buying a separate game console. There is also the Airplay, iCloud, and the integration with Photo Stream. With Apple TV, you can throw up your photo collection on the big screen without the need for removable storage or a dongle. For business purposes, you can also throw up a presentation or a portfolio. Apple now refers to Apple TV as a hobby. I think we'll see Apple move it into the "pro" category by next year.

I remember the hours I spent trying to get my Windows laptop to print wirelessly to my Canon printer. It would work on certain days of the week and not on others, for no reason that I could see. Eventually, I just broke down and got some extra long printer cables. Maybe I'm getting old but I just don't want to dick around endlessly with tech stuff anymore. A major failing, I'm sure.

To do certain kinds of work, however, one has to be willing to do the tech stuff. My personal concern about Apple at the moment is not whether people will respect me as a person who uses their products. It's whether users like me have a future with iOS as opposed to OSX, and about how difficult it will be to transition to different gear if we don't, since recording music can involve expensive setups no matter what kinds of desktops we use. from Andrew H. You just can't help yourself, can you? Even when you say your are going to stop, you always feel the need to come back and insult people who buy Apple products. Quote:
I have been prompted by the moderator not to call names, so I am not using any previous names or any new ones that should offend. I decided on "Apple Consumers" as the name for that cohesive and solid block of people and did a bit of bolding, italics, and underlining to make the point that I am switching over. The bolding, italics and underlining were just temporary to make that point. I guess it worked So and finally with all due respect, I think the term "Apple Consumer" is ok.

This whole thing is stupid in the extreme and also extremely boring. It has become impossible to even mention a new piece of software or a new device from Apple, and to a lesser extent Amazon, without the thread degenerating into a slanging match. Good grief. Some people like Apple and some prefer Samsung or some other company. Is it really necessary to attack and make snide comments about the character and intelligence of people that like something that you do not? Its become pathetic. In order to find anything useful you have to wade though piles of irrelevant silly insults. What the hell has happened to this place. |

Is Apple consumer supposed to be negative now? I know this is , but I don't see any way out of it. Any combination of words that a person that dislikes Apple will use to refer to people who buy Apple products is going to have a bad connotation. From this article: Quote:

Unfortunately any name/combination of words can be considered insulting/sarcastic etc from the context it is used in so I guess you may as well accept that anything from Seaking (relating to Apple and Apple use) will be insulting as it's seems obvious that the preferred deal would be the removal of anything (and anyone) Apple related from the planet... |
