Cook, add milk, sugar and maybe a bit cinnamon... tasty and filling ![]() |

Getting angry at a local computer store.
After waiting for my replacement tablet since January and learning it was delayed again until late March I choose to get my money back instead. They promised me that they would return the money in my bank account within 8 business days (that was last Friday). Of course they haven't deposited the money back yet. On Tuesday I called the main telephone number and they told me I "was in line" and I should get back the money this week. Today it still wasn't returned so I called again with the main telephone number. Now I was told that because I handed the tablet in at the store I should ask the store about getting my money back (concluding the were BSing me earlier in the week), I was put through to my local store. They told me they would look into it and call me. I just called them again because they hadn't called back and I was told they had send the person dealing the paying back of money but they hadn't had a reply. I don't expect them to call me back this week. I gave them my mobile phone number because I'm on holiday next week but if I haven't heard from them by Tuesday I'll call again. I want my €599! Not only would it have been nice for my holiday but I'm also expecting a bill for the root canal within a couple of weeks and I know my insurance doesn't cover the cost fully. |

No, it's a company that's doing well. But I've been reading store reviews and they've always been slow with returning money. It's a bit annoying because they and they're two sister computer stores are now advertising about the fact that they have great service compared to other computer stores.

In line for WHAT? How long does it take to charge back a charge/debit card? The only line there should be is the que for the customer service desk!

I did notice that the company keeps an eye on one review site and on a complaint website and that when people post about their problems (like not getting their money back) they get contacted and within days they get their money back plus often a gift card to make up for the problems. If I don't get my money back next week I'll post my story on both those websites. |

![]() And they refused to charge back cards. They sent checks. Which they had a problem with because some members were in other countries. And since you could only use cards to join the site in the first place, it should have been no problem to charge back. The old owners Troy and Gay would have had the money back in a week at the latest with problems. They would have killed themselves to find a way to make it right. So if you have a major business doing it... well... I figured it earned them all that free cash to use for a year. ![]() |

And I learned a LONG time ago that the easiest way for me to make tofu was to get every pot in the house dirty then go buy a package. The nearest store is 23 miles away. The grocery selection is... Ok the closest I can get is imagine a discounted warehouse Aldi's with less selection than Aldi's carries that knows it is the only grocery store in 23 miles. And they know it. A can of their soup, not the brand name, is $1.20 for the cheapest they have. They have two kinds of tofu. Waterpacked firm and mori nu both of which are kept in the produce section under the water sprinklers. Along with the tempeh, Vegan lunch meats and other plastic covered items. And they don't supply paper towels to wipe off the soaking wet packages. Mainly because they don't give a sh.t. You have to drive another 12 miles to get to any other store. When I get to Harrisburg or State College, I buy fresh. That's quite a bit further. I really do my grocery shopping at the discount food warehouse 7 miles down the road. [Fresh shrimp one week for 2 bucks a pound] Plus we have a discount food store about 5 miles away from the grocery store I was talking about. The selection changes but I can find such stuff as caviar for 20 bucks, Plum Pudding for 2 bucks. Marmite for 99 cents. Bob's Red Mill Vital Wheat Gluten for my baking for 1 a bag. A very expensive brand of blue corn tortilla chips [organic] for 2 a bag. Can't complain. The last thing I bought at the tofu watering store was a paper and some milk and only because I ran out of the milk before I thought I would. I had a craving for homemade custard and used all I had at the time. |

So here's the ridiculous Monday I had yesterday:
First, I get a call from my husband at 9:30am. He was pulled over doing 86 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. Lucky for him the officer was very nice and understanding that he was running late (for reasons I won't mention here because if my husband ever saw this it would embarass him). So the office didn't give him the ticket for $250 and deduct 3 demerit points (because he was so darn nice) instead he nailed him for driving without proper insurance since my (loving, wonderful, sweet husband) left the new insurance slip on his bedside table. So now we have to pay $65 for that. Then later in the day around noon I called Walmart Vision Center to see if my glasses were ready. I had 2 made, 1 regular glasses and 1 pair of sunglasses. My regualr glasses I picked up over a week ago (2 weeks later than they should have been), and my sunglasses were now 3 weeks late. I found out that yes my glasses are in. I get to Walmart and find out that the glasses that I'm wearing are actually defective and need to be returned. I had experienced some problems with them, a lot of glare, and what looks like the outlining of an eye on each lense (I couldn't really see it unless I was looking carefully at them). I find out that they were not anti-glare coated and that I didn't ask for that nor did I pay for it. Yippee another expense that I can't afford ![]() ![]() No, I'm not done... As I'm leaving Walmart I get a call from work that there is a cheque at one of our customers that I need to pick up. They're about 25 minutes away by highway, and I go there at least once a week. Now my truck was recently fixed. Actually I only got it back Friday, it had 2 balljoints replaced. This morning was the first time I drove it myself and it felt great. Steering was tight, front-end was nice and stiff, I was very happy. I get half way there and I'm on the highway at this point when my fron-end starts to shake. I'm pretty used to driving beat-up vehicles with bad brakes, off alignment, and other various issues because we can't afford to buy new cars. So I didn't really think much of it. I kept my speed at the posted limit 100 km/h which is very unusual for me, I like speed ![]() I get the cheque and get back into the car. I figure at that point I will call my husband and find out what he thinks and if I can drive it slowly. My damn phone battery is dying. I call him and let him know what's going on. He calls the mechanic and calls me back (draining my battery a little more because I'm too stupid to use the customers phone, which I am sitting right in front of) he says that I can drive it but if it starts to clunk I need to pull over, stop the truck and turn the wheel back and forth a couple times and keep going. He wants me to bring the truck to him and he will take it to the mechanic since he works right down the street from him. So I start my slow trek back to him using just main roads. It took me 45 minutes to get to him, all the time listening and feeling the truck to see if it's going to fall apart on me en route. By the time I reached him my head was pounding from the stress, I ws ready to scream at the mechanic because really, what are the odds that this has NOTHING to do with the balljoints? So I take my husbands truck...which has bad brakes and almost no steering. I can turn the wheel 1/4 way in both directions before it even starts to turn. Sometimes the wheels go off to the right without me even turning the steering wheel. Yes I know we shouldn't have it on the road but we can't afford not to. Don't worry I won't kill anyone, it sounds worse than it is, and it can be controlled with quick reflexes. That I have in abundance. I finally get back to work more than 3 hours later and have to sit the rest of the afternoon in front of a computer screen with no glasses, it was too dark to wear shades. By the time I got home last night I had a migraine. My husband meanwhile had the truck checked and it turns out that my front-end is soooo rusted that when they put the parts back on and tightened everything it caused more friction and that's where the grinding noise is coming from. So I ask about the clunking, he says he doesn't hear any clunking, nor did the mechanic and he didn't see anything that could have caused it. Wonderful. So I told my husband, he can drive it for now and let it fall apart on him and then he'll know where the clunking was coming from ![]() I feel better now. |
