People came up with many complaints so far. The display was the least of their concerns. Apparently you have a device with a defective display. Why are you complaining and ranting about this reader? You position is very clear - I hope you have better things to do with you time ... |

ps: Ghosting is only when having pictures. It does not (or rarely) appear in text. Ghosting in text is about as much as on my PRS-505.

In the video the spots are about just as bright. Remember, the JBC has a pure white frame, while the Pocketbook has a grey frame. Both which give the impression that the pocketbook has a brighter background.
But it does not matter why they leave it out, because it would do nothing on overall contrast (as the camera would autocompensate for too bright light anyway! And the way it looks to me, they both are under a pretty underpowered incandescent light! |

In this new comparison http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...v=dRmwCDaGSUI#!
the lighting is powerful, look at his hands: I don't think all the people use this much lighting at home. I don't. Btw they left out too many characteristics to call it a comparison. Last edited by lorenzoens; 03-18-2012 at 06:24 AM. |

Confirm: the PB 912 has no Pearl screen.
The company planned to use it, but still mounts the older Vizplex. Last edited by lorenzoens; 03-18-2012 at 07:43 AM. |

The camera is set up in such a way that the overall image/video really does not look bright at all, but would look under a 30-40W incandescent bulb. |

should have an answer soon, when did Ectaco receive the request for the RMA? It is obvious from your posting that you shouldn't have purchased this ereader with the new Triton display which has a darker background, according to most accounts. You posted that you were familiar with some of the Ectaco products, it's too bad that that didn't include any of the previous jetBooks with their reflective TFT LCD displays. It is generally accepted that that display is darker as well. Most of us users would also say that the blacks are darker so that the contrast and readability is about the same. Luck; Ken |

Now about your opinion that I am wasting my time in this forum. I have a very frustrating experience with JBC. I am sharing it with you for two reasons: 1) provide more information for this forum's users about JBC I own, since this is a new device and really not much information was available. So people can make informed choice if they need to. And my guess is that people who is spanding their time on this forum is looking for the any additional information about JBC since JBC attracted their attention. 2) to get your, dear forum users, very valuable for me opinion about the difficult for me and frustrated situation with JBC. And I already got a lot of very valuable advises and support from different users. I am very thankful for all your help and time. Do you believe I really waste my time here? |

Readabilty is subjective. Too much to discuss about it.
Our eyesight is different, and sometimes it differs even in the same person, from day to day: in this same thread there's a hawk-eyed user which sees even in the dark, but sometimes finds a powerful lighting like very weak. It's fine like this. Seriously: readability is a too subjective topic to discuss about. Everyone makes his own ideas from comparative pictures with two or more devices near to each other. Let's hope we can have lots available soon, in the most different contexts, so that everyone can decide in which conditions a screen is better than another: in relation of the kind of documents everyone has to read, where one lives, how often reads in outdoors, et cetera. edit: No Valentinka, you're not wasting your time. Some users dont like what you say, so they would like you (and me) to shut up. Last edited by lorenzoens; 03-18-2012 at 12:29 PM. |

Look the images are not even white balanced properly.
I didnt really have an opinion one way or the other about Goodreader until recently when they posted this http://goodereader.com/blog/electron...ment-459421232 the claimed pocketbook devices are hard to use, have no source of book content other than the Russian based book world and were "under performing" all ridiculous claims. I confronted them in the comments (i use the handle "zoom44" nearly everywhere it comes from my Mazda enthusiast hobby) and the replied they are "woeful" then when i asked for specifics.. well you can see they said JBC was better and then said one reason was PocketBook doesnt have a browser(pocketbook Pro devices do even if it hasnt been very good JBC does not) and then said the 360 "straight out suck". no one that has ever used a 360 to read a book has EVER said it sucks. anyway i digress. point being their opinion on any matter of readers GOOD or BAD should be ignored. it has little value. there are many other blog sites which have a much better track record. seriously how could they bother to post those images with the white balance so off? edit: just actually got to the JBC vs 912 video. they are completely incompetent. with either device Last edited by Dulin's Books; 03-18-2012 at 12:51 PM. |

You are probably right that it was my fault that I didn't do ENOUGH research before buying JBC. The main information I used before buying JBC was from Ectaco's website. I looked at JBC's picture on Ectaco'e website. It looked very good to me and colors looked great, too. I read JBC's specifications on Ectaco's website. Yes, they look great I thought. Color eInc, nice resolution, a lot of book formats, micro SD and some educational materials that my 10 years old son can use. I watched couple videos of JBC on Youtube. I didn't notice on these videos the JBC's screen was SO dark. I also thought that Ectaco was very good company to go with. I bought some good stuff from Ectaco during last 12 years. I never dealt with Ectaco's Customer service (before I got JBC) since I just didn't need it. All my Ectaco Partner devices worked just fine. I thought I posessed enough information to make the right choice. But it turned out it wasn't enough ![]() Last edited by Valentinka; 03-18-2012 at 02:06 PM. |
