I noticed another bug fix: white text on a nearly white background is now a thing of the past.

i must be crazy!

following advice from Kobo customer service I factory reset my Vox to cure my system upgrade problem.

Lo and behold! I cannot get past the setup process due to the same upgrade problem. So now I cannot access any features : )

I would very much welcome any help please.

Have you tried going to a friend's house to go through the process (in case there is a problem with your wireless router). A library or coffee shop may work too, if you select a Facebook account to register with. My thinking is that the Facebook registration pulls up a webpage, which the library or coffee shop will reroute to their login page. Once you've logged into their service, you can back out and register normally. But that's just an idea, I haven't tried it.

Or wait a few days. Given that the location in your profile is a bit off the beaten path (sorry, but I'm a Vancouverite ) it is possible that there is enough extra latency in your connection that your connection is eventually being dropped simply because Kobo has a tonne of other users who are trying to upgrade.

Worth a try.

I have had the Vox since November and never had a problem with my connection before - then again our ISP is Telus lol

Did you get an e Mail this AM purportedly from Telus asking for your PW?

(edit) Contacted Telus; as I suspected, it's a scam.

Mine failed too...exact same issues as you...it gets to 35% downloaded and then says I have a connection error...wifi is fine. This is a problem with Kobo people, not your Vox...I'd hold on until it is resolved. I am frankly afraid to try again for quite a while, esp since I need my Vox for a trip next week. I'll ignore it for awhile! Let me know if it goes away, for those of you that are experiencing it now...

I am wondering if the errors people are seeing is because of the amount of people trying to download

previous downloads have been Canada/USA first, followed by other countries a few days later, this update seems to have gone out to everyone in one go

Whatever the cause, it definitely seems like a problem with their servers or something, since it is happening to more than one person. I think it is best to wait...the update is not significant anyway...

I can't see how because it consistently fails at 40% at various times of the day.

Following directions in another thread I've successfully downloaded the Zip file from http://download.kobobooks.com/vox/update.zip, placed it in the USB drive you see when you attach the Vox to your PC and now the Vox is currently doing the software update.

Later. Not recommended to sideload this update as now my Vox is not allowing me to read any books. It still wants to download an update and is still failing at 40%.

A server configuration error perhaps? Or maybe a bug in the Vox software that downloads the updates?

It's also worth noting that Kobo just put out an update for their Touch as well. Between that and International in one go, it is probable that their servers are being hammered.
