PRS-T1 T1 clearanced at Best Buy - Page 3

Just got back from Best Buy. They were $99 and only two on the shelf, one of which had a messed up box.

As far as features missing from the T1 compared to the Nook? Doubtful. The Nook is the one missing audio. I am only concerned with apps for reading, such as coolreader, mantano, possibly the Kindle app, box app, sugarsync app, dolphin web browser app...file manager app...

First I'll use it as is for a bit, and update the firmware. But trying not to open it up til Saturday...my birthday....it's supposed to be my present....its the only thing to celebrate, I'm certainly NOT happy about getting another year older LOL

Yay! I'm glad you were able to get one. If you have a Windows based computer, you can VERY EASILY root the PRS T1 by following the directions in this thread. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=154285
It really is one-click easy. : ) WHen you apply that root, Coolreader is installed. I installed the Kindle app and I don't think that I have room to install anything else since the app space is very limited. I guess if you chose to install Dolphin browser instead of the Kindle app, you would have room for that though. I don't know. Let us know what you find out. Happy birthday. (I would probably go ahead and open the reader and start enjoying it. : ) )

ilovegadgets, thanks! I don't really care about the Kindle app. I don't like reading in that app (I have it on my NC). I will use coolreader for mobi, I can make them work if they are from Amazon.

I do plan to get a 32 gig SD card for it so room shouldn't be a problem. The T1 has its own browser so I guess I wouldn't need another, I forgot about that.

I should behave and not open it....no time to mess with it today at any rate.

I have charged it and updated it. And side loaded a book. Really impressed with the Reader so far. I've put it away for now....it's not my birthday just yet

What has the deal been on the price? For a while it was $99, but now it is $129 everywhere again.

Just swung by my local Best Buy and now they have it marked down to $86.99, no sale tag, no clearance tag, just a price tag saying $86.99 (orginally $129.99).

The T1 was on sale for the December holidays and then again for Valentines Day.

VXF, I have to agree as to the feel of the readers I much preferred the solidity of the older versions. I'd buy a 950 off ebay but the prices are stupid.

The T1 is a nice machine though I was surprised at how much more comfortable a touch screen is for page turning. I'd always thought the buttons were fine but wow.

Anyway I'd pay a bit more $150? for a T1 that was built like my 300.

I was just at Best Buy this morning, and they were still marked as $99.99 (again, no sale sign, no clearance tag). I decided to get one to have as a back-up, and when it rang up, it rang up as $86.99. The employee confirmed with a manager that the price was indeed supposed to be that low, despite the tag still advertising the higher price.

Just throwing that out there in case other stores also still have them marked $99.99. Have the employees scan it to check -- chances are it's really $86.99 and they're just not advertising it.

I wish people wouldnt post these new prices. I am tempted to buy one now.

Thankfully my better judgement came through. For now.

They are $86.99 at my Best Buy as of today, but what I found even more interesting was the PRS-350 was clearanced at $79.99 with an additional 25% off, making it $59. They were on the shelf right by the checkout lines, none were back by the readers.
