I was trying to think of what it was so I could include it but like I said before, I couldn't think of it and I didn't want to look it up. That would be cheating.

I even know which album I have it on. Eagles Greatest Hits (had the name wrong). One of my favourite CD's.

I think that D is Mendel and that he discovered the principles of inheritance?

Correct. Gregor Johann Mendel (July 20, 1822[1] – January 6, 1884) was an Austrian scientist and Augustinian friar who gained posthumous fame as the founder of the new science of genetics. Mendel demonstrated that the inheritance of certain traits in pea plants follows particular patterns (quoted from Wikipedia).

A. Correct. There is only one surviving Pinta tortoise in the world. The tortoise called George was discovered in 1971.
