Make and gcc for the KT?

Is it safe to use opkg to install gcc and make on the Kindle touch

I really worry about this (reason: bricking) unless you manage to install all of the requirements in /mnt/us/ and symbolically link them in /opt

Extend has packages for binutils, gcc, automake etc. available via ipkg. I didn't install these exact packages (but a few others), and so far, everything neatly went into /opt/.

Search this forum for overlay on root by Nyoxi - great stuff for making sure you don't brick the device.
