Best part is, you know there are 17 more to go when you finish Post Captain. Worst part is, there won't ever be any more.

Too late. But console yourself with the thought that now you have a new author you will be able to enjoy. The series as a whole continues to keep my interest, thoguh I did think that a couple of them in the middle were a bit weaker. But the most recent ones have been even better, IMO.

I rarely read 2 books from the same author back-to-back. By the time I finish one, I'm ready for something different. Not so with Dennis Lehane. I read "A Drink Before the War", then "Darkness, Take my Hand". Great books! Next up, "Sacred".

Just Finished:

- Whitechapel: The Last Stand of Sherlock Holmes by Bernard J. Schaffer - I've already talked at length in this thread about this book, so I'll just say that if you're interested in reading a book about Sherlock Holmes meeting Jack the Ripper, make sure you know this is basically a Jack the Ripper novel in which Sherlock Holmes cameos. Lestrade does more investigating in this book than Holmes does. It's good, though, despite the many, many (many) typos.

Currently Reading:

- A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin (55%)

- 20ͭͪͭͪth Century Ghosts by Joe Hill (37%)

- The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King (17%)

- Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain (~20%) [on hold]

I saw this in the NYT Book Review today. Has anyone read it? George R.R. Martin says it's good so it caught my eye.

It says "George R.R. Martin, author of A Game of Thrones, raves, "For my money, [the best epic fantasy of 2011] has to be The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. The Wise Man's Fear is the second volume in Rothfuss's Kvothe series... it was worth the wait. I gulped it down in a day, staying up almost to dawn reading, and I am already itching for the next one. He's bloody good, this Rothfuss guy."

Just finished the Black Company series by Glen Cook. Pretty good, better than a lot of other fantasy I've read.

Just started The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón and have read just under 100 of the just over 400 pages and loving every second. Wonderful book so far, it's one of those books where you really wish you knew the original language it was written in.

An OK issue, brought down by a slightly disappointing time travel story.

Next: The Stoneholding by James G Anderson & Mark Sebanc

I bought this way back in October 2009. It seems like an interesting epic fantasy, but I'm only just past the prologue, so we shall see.

I looked this up on Amazon and there is an interview with Patrick Rothfuss and Brandon Sanderson.

If Brandon and GRRM both like it, I may have to look into it. It is apparently book 2 of 3 so we know its not gonna go Song of Fire and Ice/Wheel of Time on us!
