They were going too fast I couldn't even get the rego. No they did not stop to help. I washed my leg with my drinking water. Couldn't get the egg smell out until I got home.

That reminds me.

I was sitting on a step outside the fish and chip shop at Bronte Beach one day when a bunch of kids in a Datsun 1200 threw an egg and hit my friend in the chest. It didn't break and hurt like hell. The smile was wiped from there face when my six foot six mate and his (built like a brick outhouse) mate jumped into their Datson 240Z with the air filter sticking out the bonnet, fire flames painted all over and an exhaust that sound like a rocket and gave chase. Those guys nearly died crossing Bondi Road against the lights before my mates gave up.

I guess you were lucky (sort of) that the egg broke.
I wish my I coulda ridden my treadlie at 80ks to catch them.

I have tried to find it on youtube, but there would be so many. Maybe look later. I wonder if they will be silly enough to identify where they were, so I would know it was them. dickheads!

In an era when almost everyone has a HD video camera in their pocket, why do security cameras still use analogue technology that can not resolve the image of the thief's face when he is standing upright and looking straight at the camera.

Police were taking these videos to us back in 1995 for us to enhance and we were perplexed then that SECURITY cameras were so crap at capturing the image. In fact, they were regularly dismissed as evidence because of the low quality of the vision. It hasn't changed in over 15 years that I can see.

I am dealing with the horrors & agony of "early onset daylight savings time" - for some bizarre reason our "enlightened" lawmakers continue to inflict this (nowadays) nonsensical time change on most of the nation - even though the detrimental effects of messing with peoples' internal clocks are well known! With all the hoopla over people not getting enough sleep, they take an hour from our night?

Anyone want to explain to my cats that they will be eating an hour later today? Anyone? I'll mail you the cats until they adjust.

My dogs both slept until 8 Am. Cooper is normally up at 6 AM, as soon as any sunlight reaches through the window, and Caya at 7 AM, feeding time is 7:30. We got a nice amount of extra sleep thanks to the time shift so for once, I aint complaining.

Only the government can try to tell people that by cutting of 6" off from the top of the blanket, then sewing it on to the bottom of the blanket, one will then have a longer blanket...

I like that one. We don't have daylight saving here; but other states do, so you have to recalculate the time differences depending on the time of the year.

E.g. The NT and SA are half an hour behind us in Q, except when it is daylight savings time and then SA is half an hour in front.

Qld, NSW, VIC and Tas are on the same time, except when it is daylight savings time then Qld stays the same, and the other Eastern states change, although I am not sure if they all change on the same day.

WA is on Asia time, and also doesn't change. So for WA, NT and Qld interacting with each other the status quo remains, BUT the banks(computer) are all on NSW time, so even though the time does not change for us, be careful if you are trying to catch the online bank cutoff!

Exhausted? me too!

Why would anyone want to do that? Obviouslyu too well fed to be able to waste food like that. And yes it was fresh. I could only image how horrible it would be if it wasn't. </puzzlement> not really a rant.
Be glad it was an egg. I was driving through Florida once and someone threw a brick at the car. Left a noticeable dent in the door,

It was about 25 years ago that I got to see close-up a video camera small enough to fit inside a hollowed-out thumb. The lens was about the size of a pencil eraser, and the resolution was excellent. Moreover, in the catalog that came with it there was an optional cone-shapped lens that ended in a point about the size of the tip of a ball point pen. You could pretty much hide this thing behind a dot on the wall. Why doesn't the FBI have these things? And the sound quality of the surveillance tapes is another thing that leaves much to be desired. Remember the tapes of Marion Berry buying cocaine? The sound quality was so poor that the news programs had to use subtitles. In this day of pristine digital video and sound recording, it seems the professionals in law enforcement are still using equipment that would have embarrassed Edison.

I wonder if it because of the sheer volume of material that gets stored. Far more low res images can be stored than hi-res.

When I was growing up and hanging out with friends, I was always thought of as 'the weird one.' You know, a 'little bit strange?'

But here in MobileRead forums I begin to think I might be the only one who's normal!

How weird indeed? Though Stitchawl, by my reckoning, will probably win the weird stakes here. But here's my 2 cents worth.

When discovering a diversity of souls around the world with two-way radio, only a couple of my friends appreciated learning about people on the other side of the planet by talking to them.

I loved it, talking around the world. It was cool and you could do it from your sunroom or back shed. However, it was a federal offense in Australia to do so without a license and Charlie got a real shock when a federal cop pulled a gun in his face through a window and arrested him for using a two way radio without a license. Hand cuffs, overnight jail and a court hearing and fortunately a good behavior bond. After that I sat my exams and got a Ham license.
I was considered weird on both sides of the street. Couldn't surf, didn't fight.
The motor cycle got me a bit of cudos though.. A 500 Four Honda when the "guys" we're carrying their boards to the beach on bicycles.

Now John with the pork pie hat from the George IV Pub can tell stories over a couple of beers that will have your hair standing on end. If you added up all his stories he would have to be 300 years old. Some people add a lot to life.

Isn't that great?
