And Folgers, don't forget. Grits go best with the great taste and enticing aroma of Folgers coffee. Grits & Folgers! Together they're the best part of wakin’ up!

I don't know Folgers. But I'm getting the impression that it's like some of the powdered floor sweepings that try to pass themselves off as coffee that we get here...?

Folgers is great stuff. Where I work, people who bring in anything else for the coffee mess get ridden mercilessly. However, in all fairness to kk, she lives on the Olympic Peninsula. Coffee is a whole 'nother thing in Washington. There's a cappuccino stand on every corner, and their lattes will blow you away. For those of us who aren't fortunate enough to live near Seattle, there's Forgers.

Heck, even the Mickey Ds in the Seattle area serve lattes.

I miss my Folgers badly. My wife bought one of those contraptions that makes one cup of coffee at a time from expensive, wasteful single portion cup thingies and I had to follow suit. I miss my good old simple pot of Folgers. Badly.

Will the price of whale meat in Japang go up, now that the fleet went home early?

I met a couple from Sweden who called Folgers "Prisoner Coffee." They said that was because it was the cheapest coffee their prison system could find to serve to the inmates...

In all the years that I've been living in Japan, I have NEVER seen a single restaurant that serves whale meat. And I've looked! From what I've been told, almost 98% of it gets exported to Europe! I would really love to know the real facts...

Somebody, somewhere must have accurate information, but I sure can't find any! The Internet is full of 'facts' about it that get disputed left and right. I hear about the whaling ships from news sources, I hear about restaurants selling the stuff from new sources outside of Japan, but it must be hidden even better than recreational drugs or bullets (the penalty for possession of even one marijuana seed is 5 years in jail, no parole, and possession of a bullet [not the gun, just the bullet] is even longer) because no matter how hard I've looked, I can only find 'written' evidence of whale meat being sold, never the actual meat. It makes me wonder...

All the TV stuff lets you think it is available in every good Japanese restaurant.
I wonder who is eating it then? We know the Norwegians catch their own, but do they eat it?

That's the point I'm making... Where is it? I really have searched for it extensively in Japan. As I said, I can find it on the Internet, but never yet seen it actually for sale. One would think that after 25 years living in a country I would be able to find at least ONE place that actually sold it... Frankly, I'm curious about the taste in the same way that I'm curious about the taste of human. I doubt that I'd ever actually try either, but that doesn't stop me from wondering...

Raw horse meat is served as a sashimi in southern Japan, but you don't often find it north of Kyushu (the south island.) I'm planning a 2-week bike ride around the northern-most island of Hokkaido for this summer. I wonder if whale meat is more common there?

It would appear that you used to be able to buy it on amazon.co.jp, but they don't sell it anymore. Maybe you can get some HERE?.

I don't understand the language.

Now possibly moving into dangerous territory (move me if you need to ).

Is it true that the Japanese government used $30million from the Tsunami relief fund to provide a security ship for the whaling fleet this year?
