I should have known the big five straight off, considering we used to go to the game reserve at least once a year when I was a kid. Terrible what alcohol does to the little grey cells.
What about my Collection of crocodiles guess? I don't think it's right, but I know it's something like that. |

It may be that there is more than one collective noun for crocodiles, but I'll stick with the one I know. As a clue, it describes crocodiles on land rather than in water I think. |

I've just looked it up, and found a congregation of crocodiles, which is what I was thinking of. I also found a float of crocodiles, so who knows...?

I think it is a scary of crocodiles. All you can see at night are their red eyes!

I don't think anybody is going to get the singer, so I'll give you the answer. It was the inimitable Captain Beefheart, from 'Safe as Milk' and 'Icecream for Crow' respectively. Shame on you all for not knowing that
![]() I'll leave it open as to who wants to ask the next question. |

Captain Picard often had one of the Q too often for his liking.

I'll throw out a muli-part question.
ARLINGTON CEMETERY The Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers 1. "How many steps does the guard take during his walk across the tomb of the Unknowns" and why? 2. How long does he hesitate after his about face to begin his return walk and why? 3. Why are his gloves wet? 4. Does he carry his rifle on the same shoulder all the time and, if not, why not? 5. How often are the guards changed? Stitchawl |

1. I'd guess 21, because it is the same as the 21 gun salute.
2. 21 seconds? Same reason. 3. To honor the Navy and Marines? 4. Same shoulder -- probably wrong but I couldn't think of a reason why he would switch. 5. Every 2 hours? |

3. For a better grip?
4. Ok, I'll pick the option Daithi didn't and give as a reason: so that the rifle's always on the same side vis a vis the tomb and onlookers. Outside shoulder? Switching would give a reason for those wet gloves.... |

Tie score between Daithi and Issybird. #5 could be the tie-breaker! 5. How often are the guards changed? Stitchawl |

I really have no idea how often the guards are changed, and it would just be random guesses on my part, but I'll throw out one more guess. Every 21 minutes?
When I was in the Army one of my drill sergeants had been part of the honor guard in Washington, D.C., and I remember him telling us that they had all kinds of rules they need to follow, like they couldn't drink -- for the rest of their lives. |
