Adding books, but not phyiscally storing them

I download all of my Kindle purchases to Kindle for PC, then use "Add Books from a single directory" to get the books into Calibre.

The problem I have is that Calibre then makes a copy of the book and stores it in its directory, therefore giving me 2 copies of each book on my hard drive.

My question is...
Is there a way to have Calibre add the book information into my library, but not copy the physical file other than using the "Add Empty Book" and then manually filling out the information?

What I am really looking for is a "Add Books from a single directory - but don't copy the physical file" type option.

Thanks,

Eric

If you have the space (at least temporarily), you could also just add the books and then do a remove format afterwards. Easier than manually entering info for each book.

Needless to say, you won't be able to use Calibre for copying ebooks to your device. Still works if you just need to keep track of what books you have.
