$14.27 in the Aussie store but managed to grab it from the US one Have you read the first one? Just wondering if it's necessary before reading the second |

Checking at search.overdrive.com, it seems that Los Angeles and Orlando are the only metro areas, in the world, where that first book, Red to Black, can be taken out of the public library as an eBook. Is there a Disney connection here? Or maybe it's an Universal Studios thing Like koland, I just put a in a local public library reserve request for a paper copy of book 1. The reviews are good. CORRECTION: Searching more carefully, I see there also is an EPUB copy in the Calgary (Canada) Public Library, available for immediate loan. Last edited by SteveEisenberg; 02-27-2012 at 10:06 PM. | |

Thank you. I just switched my reserve from paper at the local library where I live to Kindle eBook in Philadelphia where I work. There must have been some problem with the search.overdrive.com database, which I carefully checked last night. This morning there are many more US libraries listing Red to Black in Kindle and EPUB formats, and at least one more EPUB in Canada. |

You know, I know what the FLP is (I'm a member), and I know bloody well how to spell Philadelphia, so how come everytime I see FLP here, the first thing through my mind is always "Filadelphia Library of....what's the 'P' stand for again?"

I'm 30% through my FLP copy of series book one (Red to Black), and it's a wonderful mesh of strong characterizations with a realistic ripped-from-the-headlines plot. Before the real-life fall of Communism, I read of boatload of fiction and non-fiction about the USSR/Russia. That ended when Russia stopped seeming so central to the world's future. This book brings back all my interest by making a strong claim for its subject's importance without (at least so far) resorting to implausibilities. |
