Katie - he did get a response. He was given back access to the Kindle part of his account but not the rest. He can buy Kindle books and access those he already bought, but he cannot use other functions on the Amazon site.

IMO, Amazon is trying to rid itself of the 0.01% of customers that take up 10% of customer service time. (Numbers invented for illustrative purposes only.)

Most of the reports we've had here in the past appear to have been justifiable closures. There was someone who came here a couple of years ago and kicked up a fuss about his account having been closed, and it turned out that he'd bought and returned 3 large-screen TV and 5 expensive digital SLRs in the last few months. What company would want - or could afford - such a person as a customer? I've even seen people here at MR recommend to someone that they buy three bookreaders, try them out, and return the two that they didn't like!

Companies like Amazon work on numbers. Everything is being analyzed and evaluated based on those statistics. While those are numbers are invaluable tools, there may be times when the numbers don't tell the whole story. Of course, when you deal with millions of customers and thousands of sellers you can't always be fair and exhaustively thorough. Mistakes will happen.

Although, given what I read in this thread, the OP definitely has not been totally honest with us. Parts of his story do seem unbelievable and inconsistent.
