Question:
What is the largest size of an ADDON-folder? I'll get an 'fsk error code 41' in the log-file. A Last edited by Analogus; 02-25-2012 at 10:28 AM. |

Max. size for scripts is around 100 kB, but there should be a "script to big" error.

Can't install from Parallels on Mac
I've got a recent iMac, on which I installed Snow Leopard, Parallels 6, and Win XP, to install PRS+.
The .18 installer runs, but hangs on the "The Sony Reader PRS-950 cannot be found", and won't install. Windows is seeing the Reader on USB - I can even run the Installer from the Reader disk. I get the same results when I run it under Crossover. Has anyone successfully installed PRS+ on a 950 from a Mac, or does it need real PC hardware for some reason? Boot Camp only works with the internal drive, and it has to be one big partition before installing Windows. Mine is not a single partition.
Also, 10.6 and 10.7 only support Win7 in Boot Camp, and you can't use XP (in Snow Leopard) on recent hardware anyway, because Apple doesn't provide drivers. Parallels on SL didn't work, although it's usually pretty good on USB support. Rather than screw around with Win7, I just ordered a used XP laptop for a few bucks more. Sure hope it works for PRS+ for my "new" 950, because the default typeface needs Help! Last edited by EldRick; 02-25-2012 at 04:28 PM. |

My CB-addon-folder number 3 is just a view KB bigger than the original one from the revision. A. Edit: I made something wrong when adding the 4th addon-folder. Now everything is working fine. I think the 4th folder will be necessary soon. In my case it IS necessary. Last edited by Analogus; 02-26-2012 at 04:21 AM. |

Question:
Is there a function that makes an automatic reboot of the reader? I use this code (I recovered accidently) to do that: Code:
kbook.bookData.setData(null); model.doDeviceShutdown(); Thanks A. |

There is a function you can assign to a button which does the job. In options you just have the possibility to alter the time.

The automatic page turner is only enabled if you activate it yourself via the corresponding action. So if you don't use it, there's no need to disable it. Analogus: There is no reboot function afaik, strangely enough. The only trick I know is to use the x50 exit codes. These are their normal functions: 3 = Data Format (IM) + reboot 4 = SD Format + reboot 5 = MS Format + reboot 6 = don't clear screen + shutdown (used by shutdown image addon) 10 = wireless update/recovery + reboot (but no full reboot if no wireless) So if you don't use MS, for instance, you can trigger a safe reboot by doing this: Code:
ebook.setExitCode(5); kbook.model.doDeviceShutdown(); ![]() Last edited by quisvir; 02-26-2012 at 09:45 AM. |

Thank you!
I wonder where you have all those informations from... Concerning reboot: I try to make CB's even for the 650 - so it's too much risk to use this exit-codes. I have no glue why my 'solution' works, but I'll stay with it. It's used in several actions (which demands rebooting) like altering fonts for TXT-files, restoring PRS+ setting or activating/deactivating a beta-system. A. |

Analogus, could you put on this web the modifications to change the fonts for lrf, txt, rtf, and the new options to save, restore, and reset prs, that is showed in the link or your posts (http://erhartc.bplaced.net/ereader/index.php)?
thanks |

Analogus:
Well, what actually happens with your code is that it crashes the device ![]() The crash then triggers a reboot, which is why it seems to work. The exitcode info is in /opt/sony/ebook/bin/tinyhttp.sh. There you can see that the device is only rebooted if either: - a suitable exitcode is present, which (in the corresponding part of the script) calls safe_reboot; - or tinyhttp itself exits with an error (i.e. it crashes). You can also tell that it's crashing by putting a trace at the end of Fskin.window.doQuit (present in StandbyImage.js). That trace is successful on a regular shutdown, but not when the bookData line is added. The reason btw (presumably) is that by adding the bookData line you're tricking the device into thinking there is no current book open, even though there is. This then results in a crash somewhere in the shutdown procedure. The correct way to unload the current book would be: Code:
kbook.model.currentBook.media.close(kbook.bookData); kbook.bookData.setData(null); ![]() Victor: I have seen your mails btw, thanks for the suggestions! I'm sure we'll be working on some of them in the near future ![]() Last edited by quisvir; 02-26-2012 at 11:36 AM. |
