PRS-600 or Nook Classic

PRS-600 or Nook Classic?

Who is the better?

The PRS-600 have the touch screen, but I fear the glare.

Go for the PRS-650. One of the nicest of the 6" readers. Any reason why you're looking at a 600 in particular?

The 650 is no longer being sold new by Sony. But the Sony Reader WiFi PRS-T1 is very nice. Much nicer then the 600 and the original nook.

Neither - get someting newer.
I would say that depends on the price also. I assume you have the opportunity to buy one of these used.

For the right price, Nook Classic is great. Right price = less than $50. (With a nice cover maybe a few dollars more)
The screen on the Nook Classic is really good. The screen on PRS-600 isn't...
The downside to Nook is it needs charging every couple of days or so. It's a little bulkier than many other devices, but really nice to use anyway.
With Nook Touch availbable for around $80 (refurbished) any of these readers would have to be lots, lots cheaper!

Thank you for the tips, but I live in Brazil, my options are restricted and expensives.

How bad is the PRS-600, I read fine in my iPad, and I did have a PRS-300.

The PRS600 isn't bad. Just not as good as some others...
I think I would have been perfectly happy with the PRS600 I bought if I hadn't had the PRS350 I bought for my daughter to compare with. (I sold my PRS600 and bought a PRS350 instead)

I'd buy a 505 before going with a 600. For the right price a Nook Classic wouldn't be a bad device either.

Rumors are that Brazil is getting it's own Kindle store in June with the Kindle going for around R$199 if Kindle interests you at all...

Never ever buy a PRS600. Sony has managed to spoil a good E Ink screen by putting a touch layer on top of it that significantly reduces contrast and adds glare. Almost any other E Ink reader would be a better choice.

Amazon to offer the Kindle in Brazil for $115 this July

I guess that settles it ...

Before you get a Kindle, remember, you can't read ePub with it and you are locked to Amazon for DRMed content.

Yes but this is JSWolf we are talking about who has a massive bias against Kindle. He is correct, the Kindle will only read Amazons DRM.

What he neglects to mention is that there are many independent bookstores that sell Mobi formated books that can be placed on the Kindle is meaningless. Not to mention the fact that the Amazon bookstore is likely to be the largest store available to someone from any country.

But why include those facts when you don't have to?

I've seen both and if those were my only choices, I'd take the Nook Classic.

I love my PRS-650, but I absolutely hated the PRS-600.
