I never feel awkward about rereading a book. One of my chief criteria for buying an ebook is that it is a book that I will go back to, because usually there will be something new that I had not seen on the first go, or simply because the book was so well written that it is a pleasure to re-read.

For fiction books I find that re-reading is like revisiting old friends that I haven't seen for a while. Of course in the case of Non-fiction such as religious texts like the Bible many people say that with each reading they see/understand something that they didn't before or understand it in a new way as the situations in their lives have changed and they are looking for new guidance on how to deal with situation x. So the idea that re-reading something has therapeutic value isn't exactly a new idea. It's been around for quite a long time.

I enjoy reading some books multiple times. Even though I've read one of my favorites probably a dozen times...it never gets old. There's not much more to the story than is already there, but I love watching the scenes play out in my head.

I'm with crich70. There's a few books that I love and it's like revisiting old friends and sometimes getting something new out of the story. I really don't understand the idea that rewatching movies is alright, but rereading books is somehow boring.

How is it any different than listening to a song more than once? (other than length, I guess albums are more like books)

A good book is one that can be read more than once... either comfort food or because there's more than can be got by a single reading...

Couldn't agree more. I'm in the process of giving away/selling most of my paper books, but I'm re-buying them on my Kobo despite having already read them.
