				Unwanted Italics

			Hello everybody!

I am very new to Calibre and ebooks in general, so anybody who answers, if you could please use layman's language, it would be very much appreciated! I wanted to converse a text to .mobi-format for my new Kindle-Reader. I prepared the text using OpenOffice.org 3.3. (Writer) The .odt-file was all right, with Chapters marked as "Heading 2" and some selected passages in Italics, just the way I wanted it. But in the .mobi-format suddenly complete chapters turned out in Italics. I tried several times, then I tried to converse the text from .html-format, but again - unwanted Italics. What did I do wrong? Thanks for your help! |

Have you heuristics enabled, it has a function that tries to turn some character patterns into italics, which is not what you want unless you convert a document actually using those patterns. So disable italicize option in heuristics.

I'm actually having the same problem... converting from TXT, the author uses

return star space star space star return to indicate a change in viewpoint, but calibre is interpreting it as an italic start and staying italic until the next viewpoint change. It does this whether italics are checked in heuristic processing or not. Any ideas on how to fix that? |

In the txt input conversion settings set the format type to plain.
