I got one on Day One to see if it would make a good Christmas present for the missus. My youngest loved it, so I bought a pair for under the tree. My oldest was not interested (which is to say he wanted an xBox), but has been using the PC Kindle so I got this for him.

I live in a small town of under 50,000 and after earlier posts in this thread, I was reassured enough to go in today and buy one. This store had received 20 units and I was a little late at noon, but there were still 4 or 5 left. But they and I thought it was rather strong sales! Oddly enough, after some of the threads here, 2 people in front of me wanted to know if it had a camera

or not. One bought it, other didn't. Its charging up now, so I will play with it later. Thanks again for your previous comments. I know there is a thread of must have apps, so I will look to see if there is a thread on which should go on first.

Got mine at Walmart today. They said if I did need to return it, I could either return the gift card or get a refund of the $149 only. Sounds fair. I'm probably going to use the gift card to pick up another Fire for my son.

Now that the Walmart promotion is over, I notice that Staples is offering the Fire for $199 and gives you a $20 Staples gift card. This is in the NYC area; may be in other areas as well.
